Mandatory calorie counts on menus: Are calorie counts effective at improving health?

  • Knowledge is power

Calorie counts on all menus would definitely help people to regulate their diets or at the very least be aware of the amount of calories that they are eating. It would greatly help the population to know the amount because they could probably pick an option that has less calories or just not eat as much and split the meal up into two meals.

  • People eat anything

A small percentage of the US, if any, believed that fast food or high calorie meals in general were good for them; generally, people eat whatever they want to eat, largely based on taste and the affordability of the food. Calorie counts on menus won't serve to do anything than add costs to the restaurants.
