Manned space exploration: Are manned space missions still appropriate (yes), or can robotic missions take their place (no)?

  • Yes I think they are still apropriate

The reason I think that we should send humans to space is because when a human goes to space we monitor slight change in temperature or if they get nervous if we send a robot it won't have any reaction that a human could react to so we would never know what asteroids or the trip to Mars would do to us.

  • Yes I think we should keep funding them

The reason I think that we should send humans to space is because when a human goes to space we monitor slight change in temperature or if they get nervous if we send a robot it won't have any reaction that a human could react to so we would never know what asteroids or the trip to Mars would do to us.

  • Yes manned space missions are still appropriate.

Manned space missions are still appropriate as we are still trying to explore space. By doing manned missions instead of robotics we are allowing humans to experience space and all its wonders first hands, and if we are ever going to colonize or explore space we need something to reference it to from a human point of view.

  • Manned space explorations are still appropriate

Robotics and automation can only reason to an extent giving to them by humans. We need manned space explorations to not only discover new things, but to notice patterns and annomolies that computers and robotics don't catch. Machines are only as good as the information and direction given to them. Manned space explorations are appropriate to ensure development of our space exploration system.

  • Unsafe, costly, and results in the same way.

50% of our tax dollars are going to NASA, when they should be going towards military needs or whatever means necessary to get America out of debt. These projects not only take too much money, but they put humans at risk. Astronauts are put into unsafe environments with changing variables that a drone or other robot could easily travel to, take pictures in, record temperatures, take samples, etc.

  • To much money!

Going into space is a dangerous mission and robots and tech is the way to stay safe and not have to worry about dying out there. Robots have done a lot for us and so we should continue to upgrade them and discover more! Plus it takes a lot of money to send people into space.
