Market vs. regulatory approaches to cutting carbon emissions: Can market approaches better reduce emission?

  • No responses have been submitted.
  • No not likely

The emissions are going to be there no matter what regardless if there is a market approach or not because frankly I believe it would not work as effective as some would hope and insinuating that it might is just an attempt to spread false hope and should be considered nonsense.

  • You can't trust the market to regulate itself

The entire purpose, the whole driving force behind the market is to make money. How can you trust it to regulate itself to cut carbon emissions when it has proven time and time again that it will do whatever brings in the most profit, regardless of the consequences? The market cannot be trusted to regulate itself; regulations must be enforced by an outside party.
