McConnell Wanted Full Ethics Report on Obama Nominees: Is his willingness to confirm Trump nominees without finished ethics reports hypocritical?
  • They don't care as much.

Every side in politics just wants their side to win. Clinton supported the electoral college, until that was the reason she lost the presidency. McConnell doesn't care to vet Trump's appointments because he doesn't want any bad press that would come with scandals. This is different than how he treated Obama's nominees, so he's being hypocritical.

  • Yes, his change in opinion is hypocritical.

If McConnell felt that it was inappropriate to confirm Obama nominees before their ethics and security reports were finished, then he should hold the same opinion about people nominated by Donald Trump. It undermines his credibility when he has different standards that he holds presidents to based on their party affiliation.

  • I'm so disappointed in the Republican establishment.

McConnell is a sell-out. His wife has a cabinet post so he's going to agree to everything Trump wants. For all the campaign talk about draining the swamp, Trump is bringing the largest swamp ever to the White House. Politics disgusts me now. These people don't care about their constituents or the country, they just want power and money.

  • Yes, he is being hypocritical.

I believe that the same rules should be used for everybody, and therefore the confirmation of nominees for both Obama and Donald Trump should only occur after receiving ethics reports. Both politicians should be treated the same, regardless of their political party and views, to avoid any bias in the government.
