  • No responses have been submitted.
  • No, i disagree.

I strongly disapprove this. Though Michael Jackson's daughter was incredibly offended by Joseph Fiennes casting, i strongly believe that it was not intentional. Therefore, i don't think producers have an obligation to check to check with family about casting decisions. They can actually make a decision themselves if the casting is interesting to all of us.

  • No, producers do not have an obligation to check with family members of celebrities about casting decisions.

No, producers do not have an obligation to check with family members of celebrities about casting decisions. Producers have a right to cast actors the way they would like to in the shows they create. Often, these decisions are made based on the artistic vision of the producer. They should be able to make these calls themselves.

  • No, producers don't need to check with family.

If producers had to check with family members about casting, then I doubt whether any biopic movies or shows would be made. I do agree that Fiennes is a terrible choice for playing Jackson, but the producers have an obligation to cast the right actor, not appease the character's family.

  • Producers don't have an obligation but they should check with the family.

When producing a movie about a star that has passed away, producers don't have the obligation to check with the family in regards to casting. However, out of the respect they should at least have a word with them just so that they are aware of the decision made. This way the family won't be blind sided.
