New START Treaty: Are New START's verification provisions important?

  • New verification provisions are important.

With any new treaty revision, verification provisions should also be revisited and if needed revised as well. A treaty as significant as this treaty in particular should really be completely revised as new information has become available since the inception of the previous treaty. The parties involved might have differing diplomatic requirements, and may need to revise their own plans.

  • START is important for world peace

START is vital to nuclear disarmament and containment, and anything to do with START is important. START is the beginning of a much overdue process of elminination of nuclear weapons, and this is as important now as it ever has been. In fact, the argument can be made that it is even more important now that the Cold War is over and tensions around the world are even higher.
