Given the options of this year's presidential election, Obama should remain president as he has done mostly good for our country. He's pulled us out of negative places and prevented the worsening of our economy. He's promoted human rights and freedom and is pushing our country to be better and better.
I didn't particularly like Obama, but even if I did, we need term limits and they must apply to everyone. We should not have lifelong rulers. It seems like the same people who incessantly demand for term limits in Congress are the same people who say they want more terms for Obama. We need term limits for all political offices, and quite frankly, I think we should limit the amount of total time any individual can hold political office.
When the founding fathers set up the United States, they made it clear that they did not want a dynasty. Washington himself set this precedent when he stepped down after two terms. He didn't want to be a king. Obama's approval ratings are high because people know his time is almost done.
Unfortunately, it just doesn't work that way. As much as I would love to see Obama remain in office for many years to come, we do have laws. These laws are designed to protect us. Imagine if these laws weren't in place, and someone such as Trump took office and was able to stay in office for longer than eight years. That would be a catastrophe sure to ruin our great country.
President Obama has been a good president in many ways, but almost of the the citizens of the United States do not feel represented by him and have vastly different views on many issues. It is not possible for a single person to continue beyond two terms as president and the country still remain a democracy.
