Profit-driven society: Is the drive for profit beneficial (yes), or are we its victims (no)?

  • Profit is mostly beneficial

I think a profit driven society has more benefits than bad. Being profitable drives people to do better and make better goods, essentially. Sometimes people take profiting too far and only care about making profits than producing actual results and making things better. But I think that profiting inspires people to do better and is a good motivator.

  • Yes, drive for profit encourages innovation.

Yes, society is better with the drive for profit. The drive for profit makes people work harder. Wanting to make a product makes people produce and create goods and services that people want to buy. Consumers may vote, so to speak, for these goods and services when making decisions regarding what to purchase. A consumer purchases something because they want it, not because they are a victim.
