Puerto Rico statehood in America: Should Puerto Rico become the 51st state of the United States?

  • Let's Get Another!

Puerto Rico is very close to the USA (not geographically). Statehood will only benefit Puerto Rico, although I honestly don't know how the rest of the country would be effected. Puerto Rico would need more integration, but statehood is the only way forward for the island in the Caribbean Sea.

  • Yes, if that is what Puerto Ricans want.

There is no reason why the island of Puerto Rico should not become the 51st state if the people there would vote for that. We should not of course force the issue. But it is already considered part of the United States in some way and many of its people live here legally so perhaps this is the logical next step for this island.

  • Puerto Rico should become the 51st state of the United States

Puerto Rico should become the 51st state of the United States because it will be more fair to its residents. Currently it is an unincorporated territory and so its residents cannot vote in US elections. At the same time, the United States Congress legislates many fundamental aspects of Puerto Rican life, which is unfair.

  • They will have wars

They will be rude and need money and need there own presedent this is a horridle idea never let purta rico be there own country ever it will ruin our world they will want to take people from other countrys because they dont have enought people in the state say no to pureta rico

  • No, It wouldn't be fair

Because they are an independent country, yes we may own some of the land but we don't own them. We may think they're poor but they aren't most of them own smartphones. The U.S give them 4.6 billion a year, BUT they give the U.S 7.6 billion a year. They are an independent country and they should stay that way
