Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams seemed to have great chemistry both on-screen and off-screen when they were working on “The Notebook,” but in a new interview, the film’s director revealed Gosling actually tried to get his leading lady kick off the set of the flick.
In honor of the 10-year anniversary of “The Notebook,” director Nick Cassavetes spoke to VH1 about the problems between the pair while they filmed the romantic film – though fans will remember they eventually went on to date in real life.
Ryan Gosling was having difficulty acting with Rachel McAdams early in the filming process. He asked that someone stand in for her in a particularly emotional scene so that his coverage could be shot without his acting being affected. This caused the director, a producer, and the two actors to take a minute to hash out the problem, after which filming proceeded. The two actors got along so well they ended up dating for two years.
I really don't think Ryan Gosling tried to get Rachel McAdams booted from The Notebook. I think even if he does not like her very much, he is a professional and would deal with her. I think people like to try to make stories up to create tension and to gain more attention to the actresses or movies.
The Notebook is a classic love story that has become one of the most beloved romantic films of all time. However, it has recently been reported that Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams were more like enemies than lovers during the first part of filming, and were even caught yelling at each other. While they may have started out on less than agreeable terms, they were able to work it out and even ended up dating off-camera. While it may have been a rocky start for the two, Ryan Gosling is a professional and would not try to get Rachel McAdams fired.
