Sachin Tendulkar given Bharat Ratna. Is this justified?

  • He deserves it no doubt about it

I am such a small person to comment on the greatest icon of the game has ever produced.Ort is an art and a dedicated sportsperson with a long career span can be termed as a maestro or an outstanding artist. Sachin Tendulkar inspired millions of fellow Indians with his sheer dedication to work and true application of values of life in bringing laurels to the country.

  • Yes, he has made contributions to cricket.

Yes, it is justified that Sachin Tendulkar was given Bharat Ratna, because he is absolutely a legend in cricket. He has already completed his cricket career, and he is renowned for the things that he accomplished. It is only right to honor him and his accomplishments by giving him Bharat Ratna, which he dedicated to his mother.

  • It is Justified

Sport is an art and a dedicated sportsperson with a long career span can be termed as a maestro or an outstanding artist. Sachin Tendulkar inspired millions of fellow Indians with his sheer dedication to work and true application of values of life in bringing laurels to the country. His splendid career, modesty, humility and positive attitude have shown a new light to the Indians of his generation to excel in the field of their expertise. Grant of Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award in the country, to Sachin Tendulkar is reasonably justified for bringing cheer to two-third of the population of India in his age group, which is quite significant, thus enabling the future generation work harder and better to come nearer to the great honour.

  • Khel ratna is enough!

He is definitely a popular figure in Indian sports and a talented sportsman. But his contribution seems limited in terms of what he could actually give back to the country. Ofcourse he inspired millions of youngsters to take up the sport, considering the popularity of cricket, it had to happen anyway. The top sportsman in a country's favourite game (sometimes the favoritism is due to excessive propaganda/advertisement, which has narrowed our vision of 'sports' only to cricket). He deserves respect among sporting community but definetely doesnt join the ranks of some of our life changing citizens who were honored with the title in the past (except some over advertized congress politicians)

  • What is cricket's contribution to society

Bharat ratna is given for their contributions to the society, its not that we won all the matches after he started playing for India or if we win what difference does it make, IPL team owners bid for him, he gets millions of rupees for endorsement. He's personal record is outstanding but India's performance during that period is average. In fact when dhoni started playing for India, we reached new heights in cricket. I think dhoni deserves more than sachin.

  • Great personalities are neglected

I feel the government has neglected the other great personalities of India. Sachin never played when it is needed, except at few occasions. He didn't take the responsibility of leading the team.
Now he is involved in commercial ads for making money.
Because he has god fathers in BCCI, hence UPA with some vote politics just neglected other great people of India.

  • Absolutely no service to the nation.

He is just one of the great performers of the game. A run scoring machine, thats it period. His averages in tests/one days not the best. His performance as a captain pathetic. Yes, but his performance as a salesman for foreign companies has been good.

What SACRIFICE has he done for the society?

  • Sachin has done everything for himself. No dedication to society anything.

Of course Sachin is the greatest cricket player. What the use of it to society? Of course he entertained millions and may be roll model to all those. But the productivity is zero. Because just by looking into his games no one can learn cricket or inspiration. The real inspiration and art of playing has to be originated in mind and by themselves. Apart from cricket I think he has done very less which is almost equal to zero service. He has done everything for his own and enjoyed by himself. Which says he is not eligible for Bharath rathna. That's it.

  • Bharat ratna is an honor given for service to society ...Not for service to a game

Sachin tendulkar is an unparalleled sportperson, very down to earth, role model for the youth, blah blah...All accepted. But giving him the highest civilian honor of country, which has graced many selfless patriotic workers, is not only unjustifiable, but also an insult to the efforts of the other awardees. He may have improved India's global standing in the world of cricket, but one can hardly say that it was his selfless contribution, as he was paid for that, nor has it improved the standar

  • Athletes don't deserve awards like the Bharat Ratna

Athletes may be loved and looked up to, but to give them awards such as the Bharat Ratna is really ridiculous. There can't be a lack of dedicated, successful scientists, making strides in various fields, or politicians standing up to the status quo, to such an extent that a cricketer needs to be awarded the Bharat Ratna. No matter how popular he may be, Sachin Tendulkar is not one who has done great things for society. He got paid a lot of money to entertain people. He does not deserve the Bharat Ratna, hsi award is not justified.
