Self-defense: Should the law punish those who use force to defend themselves against criminal acts?

  • Self defense is okay.

There are some situations that are incredibly unfortunate, where someone has absolutely no choice but to defend themselves or risk their own life. If we had to fear for legal sanctions for these actions, then we might be in a position where we would have to simply die because there was no other choice.

  • Not automatically, no

The validity of the self defense argument needs to be investigated and those who coerced the attacker should be charged to the fullest extent of the law, but in cases of legitimate, had no other option self defense no, that should not be punishable by law. If you have to defend yourself and didn't provoke the cause, then you should be able to.
