Republic leaders are publicly annoucing that they do not support Trump at an alarming rate. At least it is alarming to Trump and his supporters, or at least it should be. If mainstream Republican leaders do not support Trump he can not beat anyone in an election, because only his diehard supporters will vote for him.
Senator Collins is just another Republican seeing the light. Donald Trump is not good for this country or the Republican party. He is way too much of a loose cannon and that attitude would be horrible on the global stage. Unfortunately for the Republican party, it has become the party of Trump which could spell disaster for the party moving forward.
Senator Susan Collins has stated she will not vote for Donald Trump, in an ominous sign for him. This likely indicates he will lose the general election in a landslide. His own party is splintering, and he will find it difficult to pick up support outside of this base given he has offended certain large groups of society.
Trump's controversial statements and lack of tact in addressing major social and political issues have put him in a very polarized position, not only across America, but also within his own party. As his campaign progresses, it seems as though he is taking a bit of a hit as far as supporters go. This being said, his campaign still seems to support from the public. It will be interesting to see in the coming weeks how much of an impact Republican politicians pulling their support will have on his campaign as a whole.
