Seven journalists charged with crimes while reporting on North Dakota pipeline standoff: Are journalists being targeted in order to stall reports of the standoff?
  • Freedom of the press may no longer be a thing at this rate.

Why were those seven journalists charged with crimes for reporting on such an important topic? Press freedoms in this country and across the globe are being trampled on. I don't think the press should be given a free hand to write what they want, but arresting journalists for reporting is crossing a line.

  • Want Limited Coverage so Greed can continue

Journalists and people who are famous are being targeted so many Americans cannot see the injustices that are happening at this protest/stand off. Corporate greed is very high for the Dakota pipeline and they're not going to give up without a fight. Journalists should not be scared away because real journalism exposes the corrupt and the truth.

  • Yes, they are.

Big oil has government and law enforcement officals in their pocket. Most of these arrests have been thrown out, and it looks like they are just trying to avoid word getting out. For the most part, these protests have not been covered by major news media, and little is gettting out.

  • They are committing crimes.

Seven journalists have been arrested while reporting on the pipeline standoff because the seven journalists have committed crime. Just because a person is offended by something, doesn't mean that they can trespass or destroy property. People need to learn how to behave and in this case, even journalists have to obey the law.
