Seven-year-old boy found on street trying to sell his teddy bear for food: Are children being forced to take care of too many adult responsibilities?
  • Children are being forced to take care of too many adult responsibilities.

Children are being forced to take care of too many adult responsibilities, especially in families who do not have enough economic resources to support them. This comes in the form of children being required to work at an early age for things to earn money for things that their parents should be able to provide. It is a sign that families have too much economic strain and something must be done to help them so the children do not grow up underprivileged.

  • They need more

  • Outliers exist in any population

It is all a relative condition, and that a child in a "civilized" nation would have to attempt to sell his teddy bear for food is no more upsetting or unexpected than the children working the fields or in mines to support themselves and their family. Real world check - to survive, we do what we must regardless of age.

  • No, not normally.

This particular case was an extreme example and was the result of child abuse and neglect. Fortunately, because the boy decided to take action on his own, the authorities became involved, and he did not have to suffer this abuse for much longer. Normally children are not subjected to this.

  • Most children do not have too many adult responsibilities

There are some horrendous cases of child neglect and abuse, but the vast majority of children are cared for by loving parents who sacrifice to make life better for their children. Most children have ample opportunities to be kids and enjoy life without having to worry about feeding and clothing themselves.
