Some people only seek help when they are in crisis. It is imperative that psychologists are trained in the best way to deal with people who are suffering a major crisis in their life.

Contrary to popular belief among laymen, college courses do not create an expert in the field in one course. Often the single course is either an introduction or an expansion on a previous class. Having an intro course for crisis counseling will not make an expert in the field. However, it will give them the tools to deal with the immediacy of a crisis and prepare a patient for treatment by a specialist.
I think it would be nice to have, just like CPR. The fact is your not going to use it,but there is a chance you might. The better they are trained to deal with crazy situations, the better they can deal with simple ones, and individuals. I am all for it.
