Should a student's grade in gym class affect their GPA?

  • Im sorry your fat

It is a class you should get graded im sorry if your fat and cant do anything
Why bother if you are not getting graded then people who want a 4.0will have to get in shape then there will be no nerdy kids that are out of shape then less bully about how fat they

  • Gym isn't Graded On How Fast You can Run

Gym isn't graded by how good you are. A lot of the grade has to do with participation and knowledge of the sport. No matter how good you are at it, it is important to have this knowledge of exercise for later in life when you will really need it.

  • GYm means fitness

Gym is cool and healthy. It is fun to have and helps keep kids in shape and ready to go. Not only that it gives students who are not as academic in main subjects a chance if they are good at sports. So i say yes gym should be in the gpa.

  • Lower score for kids

Kids will get less scores on there report card. The class the take is like all the others. They still have to listen like the other class and they also have rules for it. Then whats the point of them to have grades for gym. Its like you don't get grades for other classes

  • Look at the facts

Yes,students's grades in gym should affect their grade point average because when u exercise and workout, that makes u more energetic and healthier also fit.If grades didn't go towards your gpa then kids wouldn't even give it their best shot.School is not only for studying but in a day u need to get ur exercise. If u want to have a healthy and fit body then u shouldn't give up on gym or push yourself even harder.Good luck!

  • GPA Shows all around ability!

Many parents just say, "Oh well, my child just isn't good at athletics." Well parents could just as easily say, "Well, my child just isn't smart." Just like some people have to work hard in math class, people should have to work hard in gym to keep their GPA up, doesn't GPA show a students overall ability anyway and not just your strengths and weekneses!

  • Gym class should count toward GPA

A student's grade in gym class (or physical education, which has a nice ring to it) should most definitely affect their grade point average (or GPA). The GPA should be a measure of a student's all around ability to handle various situations and tasks, and physical readiness is an important aspect of this.

  • No, I do not think it should affect students.

I don't think it should affect students because I myself am a student in the modern world and I see how things have changed since back then and i believe math science and arts are way more important than being graded on a sport you don't even like or how far and fast you can run, some people, like myself, wasn't even strong enough to complete a lot of physical activity. If you believe it is important then that's you, not everyone cares on a percentage on who agrees or disagrees, if you like gym, hooray for you because just like being on a sports team is an elective, physical education should be an elective.

  • Dont get me wrong

Gym class is impotant, it teaches you lots of values that might be handy down the road, but i dont think it should be graded because other subjects have a standard level where most students are, however, your health and fitness is improved primarily at home. So i think it is important, but should not be graded.

  • Why would it?

I think it should not because some kids aren’t as athletic as other kids. What effect does this have on a kid’s life? Maybe a neck/back/leg/arm/ head ache, or a sprained ankle but they won’t learn anything, unless they play pro sports which is highly unlikely. But if someone is just slacking, then yes. Gym teachers should call them out.

  • It should not

In gym you are taught things that you will never apply to ur life at all. If you are a straight A student and your gpa is 4.0, you have it all figured out, until gym class. It's your senior year and you flunk out on gym class. There goes your gpa, college at harvard, and then you would lose all of the opportunities you could have had with a 4.0 GPA. So no your gym grade should not count because only 1.4 percent have professional sports career.

  • Athletically gifted people will get good grades, but the many un athletic people will get bad grades and it will drop their gpa

Overweight kids might have a hard time with it. Also if you do super good in school and want to go to a big college like harvard, your gym grade could lower your gpa so that you couldnt get accepted. So no, your gym grade should not affect your gpa.

  • Think about Uni

If a student is hoping to get into a university for the arts and they are very gifted at art and they have all the marks, but their athletic ability isn't top notch. This will bring their G.P.A and lower their chance of acceptance into the University of their choice.

  • No no no

Kids these days don't need these things. They need to know how to build something to do it for them. I do agree kids should be able to do a little bit of physical stuff but they dont need it. Why not replace this useless clas with robotics or extend classes. Also the teachers are agressive and sexist. They go hard on the boys and let the girls slip away. Compare them to a math teacher and the math teacher is a whole lot nicer. They also believe we should be able to run 2.5 miles in 20 minutes but most obese and underweight kids can't. They also choose favorites whom they choose to be the demo for everything and not let others have a chance. Please, GIVE US BETTER PE OR TAKE IT AWAY COMPLETELY!

  • Gym should not effect the GPA

School is not a treadmill it’s a learning stage getting you ready for college and the real world. You need the grades to play college sports it’s a proven rule in the NCAA that is why school is more important than sports.. So why are we giving kids scholarships that cost money to kids for kicking a soccer ball.
