Should all Americans over the age of 18 be permitted to buy a gun regardless of income, location or criminal history?

  • Yes, it's what the founders wanted.

Yes, all Americans over the age of 18 should be permitted to buy a gun regardless of income, location or criminal history, because that is what the founding father intended when they wrote the Second Amendment. Although I do not personally agree that felons need guns, the founding fathers wanted them to be able to have them, and I respect the wisdom of the founding fathers.

  • Gun regulation keeps Americans safe.

The idea that a poor convicted can buy a gun is laughable. There is a reason that we have gun regulations: to keep us safe. Putting guns legally into the hands of people that would abuse them is a disgusting and misguided thought. It is ridiculous as a notion, absolutely not.

  • No they should not.

All americans over the age of 18 should not be allowed to buy a gun, that would be a bad idea to not even run a criminal check or location, or any type of background check on them. We need to make sure the gun is going to someone who won't abuse it.

  • No, we need to abide by gun laws.

Even though our Bill of Rights gives people the right to bear arms, society has changed from the time when it was written. Originally, people were worried about the need to defend themselves against foreign powers, and also guns were used as a way to provide meat for one's family. Nowadays, guns have a different use altogether, and there's no need for everyone to own one. The gun laws in effect today are to help protect people. Our rights should not exist if they infringe on the rights of another person. For that reason, it's important to keep guns out of the hands of some people, including criminals.

  • Current Laws Are Fine

I disagree. I do not believe all Americans over the age of 18 should be allowed to purchase a gun regardless of their criminal history. I believe if a person has had previous criminal problems then they are not the best candidates for gun ownership. Other than that, yes, I believe location and income should not make a difference.

  • All americans over the age of 18 should not be allowed to buy guns regardless of their situation.

Allowing easier access to guns will just make way for more crime. People might believe it will be a good way to defend yourself or stop someone from trying to do crime, but they will do it regardless because they will risk the chance of you not having a gun over actually having one. Also, disregarding someone criminal history and letting them be able to purchase a gun is just allowing them to commit another crime, or at least increase their chances.

  • No its dangerous.

Allowing all Americans over the age of 18 to be permitted to buy a gun regardless of income, location and criminal history is dangerous and a stupid decision. There needs to be gun control and we need to not let everyone own a gun because people will misuse and abuse their right.
