Should all countries have an compulsory education for children?

Asked by: donkal
  • Education is very important for every child of every country.

Education gives us a knowledge of the world around us and about the history (which was full of wars and fights) too. It changes us into something better. It develops in us a perspective of looking at life. It helps us build opinions and have points of view on things in life.

  • But they shouldn't be forced.

No country should be forced to make education mandatory, What works for some countries might not work for others. But education is a great thing and opens up so many possibilities. It gives chances that everyone deserves to have. Its better for someone to learn more than just how to hunt and grow food. But if a country really wants to not have mandatory education its their choice.

  • Is there any society that can function without it?

Depending on one's definition of 'education', every society on Earth has some form of compulsory education. Children in even the most primitive tribes must learn how to hunt, which plants are safe to eat, how to make a shelter, etc. The only difference between societies is what is learned, the learning environment, and the duration of learning.

  • Oh hell no!!

Education is a western idea that should not be put on other countries that do not want it or need it.
The idea of school is an alien idea to many tribes such as in west papua and red indian areas.
Would you want cannibalism in the west? That's normal in west papua. So why should something normal here be put in places like that?
Also it is a cultural thing the west wants ideally in every country but those societies survive just fine without it.

  • As an American student..

As an American student the idea of education is, for the most part, ridiculous. The concept is good, but almost always (at least in the US) there is usually never a good outcome. Spending 40 hours a week in a classroom, and learning nothing essential to my life is something that should never be forced on other countries. I believe that schools should focus more on our future occupation and language learning.
