It is degrading and making a joke about rape. What in the world is funny about rape? It is also saying hitting a female is ok. What was Amazon thinking? They are making a job of someone elses shame and degradation. They should take the shirts down and burn them.
Because we are a nation of capitalism and free choice, Amazon is free to decide what products they do and do not want to show on their website. If something is offensive to them and their customers, they have a vested interest in responding and taking down the offending product.
Those are beyond offensive and sexist T-shirts, and unless Amazon wants to support such filth then they should not sell it. Yes, I suppose they cannot regulate everything that is sold on their website, but they should be careful to keep their reputation on the up and up by not supporting such disgusting law-breaking ideals.
Yes, I believe Amazon was right to take down the t-shirts emblazoned with the words "Keep Calm and Rape a Lot" and "Keep Calm and Hit Her." These shirt do not promote healthy behavior and should not be circulated in the public. These shirts are offensive and do nothing for people who have been victims of domestic abuse.
I am deeply offended that these shirts were even on display and available for purchase. Domestic violence is nothing to joke about and I am disappointed to see someone out there wanting to profit from these shirt sales. Amazon should not have made this shirt available for people to buy at all. Women, or anyone who has experienced abuse in their life, have been through enough and there is absolutely no room for any sort of "humor" related to this topic.
They have the freedom of speech to put whatever they want on a t-shirt and you have the freedom of choice not to buy the t-shirt. But you can't oppress their right to freedom of speech and free market just because it offends you. It is a joke and is meant to be taken lightly, you might not find it funny but there are other people that do. Comedy is subjective. Again, freedom of speech and freedom of expression, if you don't like the t-shirt, don't buy it, but don't suppress other people from buying it by trying to ban it.
They have the freedom of speech to say whatever they want on their t shirts and you have the freedom of choice not to buy it. But you can't go around oppressing their right to free speech and free market just because it offends you. Some people think it's a funny joke and it's certainly meant to be and it's their view and their opinion so lets not be so judgmental. If you don't like it, don't buy it, but don't stop others from buying it by banning it.
Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it can't be said. Despite the fact that it's in bad taste. People always want to quote the Constitution, when it furthers their ideals and beliefs, but feel the need to go against it when it's contrary. That is what's wrong with America today...Too many that just HAVE to be right, and make their voice heard. Too many 'causes' and 'boohooing'. If you don't like it, don't buy it.
That may be what they are allowed to do...
It may be offensive but who are we to say what's offensive or not?
Some people find crosses or Stars of Davids offensive...But they aren't being banned from areas left and right...
I think it would just be hypocritical of people...
