Now, hunting for food can be justified well enough, but honestly, how many people you know actually hunt to survive? The majority of hunters these days live in a city, have a job, and hunting for them is not a primary source of food whatsoever. They're just having fun walking in the forest and shooting living things. I think shooting living things for fun is sick and wrong, and must be banned.
We need the hunting to stop now. Too many animals are getting killed in the wildlife for no reason. Animals need food to continue to live just like we do. People wouldn't like it if THEY got killed. PLEASE STOP THE KILLING. If we continue to keep hunting, we will have nothing left.
I oppose the ignorant and barbaric slaughter of such beautiful and innocent animals by such ignorant rednecks.
I cannot stand the thought of killing animals for the thrill of it. Hunting must be banned because it's cruel to kill animals. I have a heart and will never dream of hunting animals ever!
It's mean and cruel animals don't do not deserve to die this way. I don't care if it's the way you get food eat something else like vegetables or fruit at least those are not killing poor little animals. Also when people put them on display that it disgusting! Unless they died on their own which I doubt you do not need them stuffed!!!!!!
Our society loves violence. Most of this takes place on a television screen and in the forest. Just because this sport might be fun, you're still ending someone's life. This someone is an animal, and that animal doesn't have a voice like we do and can't speak for itself. We should speak for them and make everyone aware.
Animals just like humans have a nervous system which allows them to feel pain. How would you think it would feel if someone was dragging you by a hook that has been punctured right through your cheek or some other part of your body? Would you want to be shot? I DIDNT THINK SO
Hunting needs to be banned. Animals are like human beings. They should not be killed for any reason. People need to treat animals like their own self. Species of animals are declining due to hunting. Hunters have no limitations and are free to do whatever they like. Hunting needs to be banned!
Animals are beautiful, so why would people want to kill them? Animals mostly die of natural causes. People kill them for food and to make their fur into something worth a lot of money. Wild animals shouldn't be treated badly or be killed for no apparent reason. Some animals can harm people, but other animals kill them.
Think about the harmless animals that haven't been doing anything to people. They get killed for no reason. Some people just want a new fur coat, some need a head on their wall, and others just want to kill for fun. Rabbits, deer, dogs and other animals get killed for stupid things like skins and fur. This will cause extinction and a change needs to happen.
Is there any need to harm animals as a blood sport. Hunting is wrong. Let me explain why I think it is wrong. lot of people go out with hunts in the UK and chase after animals, shoot them. Why, why shoot an animal, is it for fur, meat or just pure pleasure. It is pointless to hunt animals for meat and fur, for human needs, when we have clothes to keep us warm, made out of synthetic (Nylon/ Polyester) or natural plant products like cotton. There is just no reason to wear animal skins, in the modern age. Sure if you want to wer something that looks authantic, there is something called faux fur. And if you are going to eat meat, go to the super market and buy an organic free range chicken. There is simply no need to hunt animals for food and fur anymore, we have the services there. It is also wrong to shoot animals for trophy hunting, hunting animals also impacts on the natural ecosystem, you kill so many of a species they die, then what happens, the local ecosystem goes crazy. Humans need to stop hunting animals before we lose all these wonderful species
We are also part of the ecosystem, so I won't entirely encourage hunting ban, but there are exceptions:
1. AVOID HUNTING NEARLY-EXTINCT ANIMALS. Animal extinction made an impact on our ecosystem.
2. HUNTING SHOULD BE MINIMAL. There are some protein-rich foods that are not from the Kingdom Animalia, like tofu & beans. And lastly...
3. ANIMALS SHOULD NOT BE KILLED CRUELLY.
PERIOD!
Sport hunting should be banned.
These rednecks just do it for fun, enjoyment and for profit.
Hunting has endangered many species and sportsmen have NEVER helped them recover.
It shows sportsmen don't want to recover species, they only care for the money it brings not the species survival.
Cheetahs faces high mortality rate due to inbreeding issues. Trophy hunters used to hunt them.
According to many sources they still hunt the Cheetah and Cheetah is a VULNERABLE species.
They never helped the Cheetah to go back to Least Concern (LC)
African Lion became vulnerable because of sportsmen. They never helped the lion to go back to Least Concern(LC)
Recent studies demonstrate that trophy hunting of lions is now the single largest contributor to the decline of the lion population on the African continent. I was right inbred hick hunters does nothing but negativity to the lion survival.
African Elephant became vulnerable because of sportsmen. They never helped the elephant to go back to (LC)
Many more vulnerable species in Africa most of them NEVER went back to (LC) Least Concern = Stable survival.
Many still kill vulnerable species.
Tiger species became endangered because of hunters and guess what, hunters NEVER helped the tiger to go (LC)
NOW
Extinct in the wild species such as Scimitar oryx, hunters brought them extinct in the wild and don't want to reintroduce them back to the wild... They only exist in ranches and these inbred hunters hunt them in ranch for profit and they oppose the banning of this cruel practice.
They're too selfish to breed them back to the wild.
Hunters aren't conservationists they're takers and racketeers.
They'll waste their money on"
Worthless trash such as paying thousands of dollars in trophy hunting,
Canned hunts,
Feeding animals in ranch that will be hunted,
Making many reality shows, hunting and trapping shows,
Wasting millions even billions in brainwashing people and or senators to defend hunting,
Wasting hundreds of millions to defend hunting.
Wasting tons of money on buying land for hunting,
Keeping lots of money in their own pockets,
Spending a little to restore animals in huntable places,
Some are wasting money to make online hunting such as the loser sit on their computer to press a key for a robot to shoot an animal in another country.
Spending ZERO to help animals with non huntable places,
Is why hunters don't help non huntable species because they don't care and rather waste their money on crap and keep some for their own pockets rather than helping species that truly need urgent help.
Hunting is like NRA is a business and lobbyists they don't care about anything else but money and getting richer.
Also sportsmen are soo called anthropocentric environmentalism
(which is concerned with conservation of the environment only for exploitation by and for human purposes) or otherwise they let it go extinct. Sportsmen never help species with no huntable species. They're the takers not the givers, they do it for profit and selfish desires.
Stop hunting. It should be illgal and banned. There is no need to kill innocent animals for fun or game. Its morally wrong. It can be allowed if in certain situtations. An example is if death is an option, but, certain guidelines MUST be folowed. And with that rule, it can only be certain animals.
Yes it should be banned because these are beautiful animals that do not deserve to die. We kill farms animals and that should be enough. We do not need to kill wild animals on top of it. How would you like it if someone shoot you or your family? It breaks my heart seeing these beautiful animals destroyed and killed.
I think it is okay to kill a few animals now and then to eat. But not like companies who kill 50 million animals just to freeze and send to the store. I think hunting for sport is unacceptable. What if animals had guns and shot you for fun? How would you like that? They feel pain just like us you f***ing dumbasses! So companies cut you slaughter in more than half and people STOP HUNTING FOR SPORT!
Animals are beautiful, why would people want to kill them? Animals should die of natural causes. People kill them for food and making their fur into something worth a lot of money. Wild animals shouldn't be killed for no apparent reason. Some animals can harm people but other animals kill them.
It is very bad. What if you were a baby deer and a hunter killed your mom and dad? You would be very angry, wouldn't you? Hunting is a very bad habit, and when people do it for fun, I just hate it. STOP HUNTING BEFORE IT GETS OUT OF CONTROL!
There are billions of us humans on earth, and we for sure don't need so many. Overpopulation of animals, that's only because we think they're over populating, while we are the ones truly doing it. Hunt for food? If there was even half the humans there are today, we would most likely have enough food to feed everyone, plus more land for wild animals, and they would be able to populate themselves. I say the only way hunting is fair, is if we humans have no other option, but we do, so it should be against.
Human kind does enough to deplete the number of animals on the planet for food, the act of game hunting for fun is disgusting and needs to be stopped. The number of animals that are becoming protected species due to hunting is ridiculous and man needs to understand that they have as much right to freedom as humans do!
Animals are beautiful, why would people want to kill them? Animals mostly die of natural causes. People kill them for food and making their fur into something worth a lot of money. Wild animals shouldn't be treated bad or be killed for no apparent reason. Some animals can harm people but other animals kill them.
I believe these animals should not be hunted. No animals deserve to be shot or killed just for food and fur. We have enough food and clothing that we do not need to kill beautiful wild animals. How would you like it if someone shot you or your family? It's wrong and we do not need it .
Yes, it should be banned because a lot of people kill animals for fun. If I went hunting and killed a deer or a moose, I would pick it up and use it for food and not act like the heartless humans who don't. I don't think god is pleased with the fact that people take the lives of animals lives for fun.
Animals are beautiful, why would people want to kill them? Animals mostly die of natural causes. People kill them for food and making their fur into something worth a lot of money. Wild animals shouldn't be treated badly or be killed for no apparent reason. Some animals can harm people but other animals kill them.

Hunters love to use the following argument
>>>"Resources for all creatures is finite. Humans and deer (and other game animals) need room to live, but the room to roam and populate has it's limits. For example, deer populations need to be restricted by the available food limits of their respective habitats. Without hunting, the deer population would grow to the point of encroaching into human areas far worse than now, causing safety issues for humans and animals (many more vehicle/deer collision), and human crops being overrun by a deer population explosion; more deer require more food.<<<
The true facts are... what you will find for all those who say NO to this question, are a special interest group of Hunters, who like to call themselves "sportsmen" What is wrong with the lame argument above about needing to control population. 1) it is known, that these hunters actually "raise" deer to keep their hunting population going.. 2) if hunters completely left wildlife alone to their natural course. Nature would take care of itself. The environment would thrive, and animals would be balanced out based on each's predatory nature.
However hunters are a blood thirsty tight knit group.... unlikely to ever want to put down their guns and give up their hobby of "Killing" other living beings for their kicks.
What serial killers do to people, hunters do to animals. They select, stalk, then kill their innocent victim. The motive of the sport hunter is not survival, it's pleasure, a.k.a. fun. They love killing! And it's not a sport. The animal can't shoot back and doesn't even know it's in the game. Hunters are snipers. They all claim to love and respect nature but kill and wound the best nature has to offer. They destroy what they say they care about. This is thoroughly psychopathic. They are so blinded by their love of killing that they cannot see how immoral it is, not to mention cruel. Taking life for one's own pleasure is as evil as one can get. Hunters are a most despicable bunch.
How can anybody justify hunting animals? Then people should be permitted to hunt each other. Use you common sense they do have feeling, they have a heart, they love someone, they have a family but we people have different thinking. I think it's bad in all way. I don't know how you all see the world.
If you were hunting a animal then it is no different than a person killing a human and the animal didn't do anything to you if you just killed it for a new coat. It is different if the animal is attacking you then you would be protecting yourself but if it didn't do anything to you than why kill it?
What did animals ever do to us? They are innocent, beautiful creatures that just want to run in the wild. They don't want to be hunted down or shot and killed!! We wouldn't go around killing people, so why should we be allowed to go around killing animals? Animals have feelings too!
Many animals suffer prolonged, painful deaths when they are injured by hunters. Bow hunters often spend hours tracking the blood trails of animals before finding them. Many are never found by hunters. Parks biologist estimates that more than 3 million wounded ducks go with out being found every year. That is why I thinks it is wrong.
People say they kill the animals because they are pests like foxes used to be in the UK but then after being hunted and hunted foxes became very rare and then hunters didn't want to stop hunting them. Blood sports I think are the worst because they harm the animals just to get them angry so its better for people watching it like the bull fighting and more fun for the people playing it. I am sorry but if you enjoy harming a living creature just for your entrainment then you have a problem.
Believe it or not, we are all animals, physically and "inwardly". We all know about the evolutions of human beings, you know; from homo aspirants to Cro Magnon. And before that, we were apes. So ya, were all animals. Think about it. The wild is an animal home, is humans destroy their home and kill the animals. We're heartless!!! Would you like it if someone came, destroyed your home, then shot you in the head. I don't know about you, but I would get mad! Then there's animal cruelty. No, hunting isn't torturing the animals, but nether is keeping pets. For what I've read on the NO BANNING side, people think we keep animals as pets against their will. But that's not the case with most people. I mean, my cats are out door cats, and they have the chance to run away very day. But no, they come home at night, right before dark. If its just how we trained are cats, but they love us. And I know that's not the case with just my family. Animal cruelty is when an animal is starved or tossed onto a street. That's horrid, but not what most people do.
It is kind of selfish thing if we just think about our hobby without thinking that the animal also has right to live just like us. We must stop hunting animals just for our hobby ! And it is also bad because in hunting animals mostly people use guns like bullets ! It can hurt the animal. Human also consume animal from thousand years ago. How could we do something selfish the animal ?
Responding to the "overpopulation" argument. Even when unusual natural occurrences cause overpopulation, natural processes work to stabilize the group. Starvation and disease can be tragic, but they are nature's ways of ensuring that healthy, strong animals survive and maintain the strength level of the rest of their herd or group. Shooting an animal because he or she might starve or become sick is arbitrary and destructive.
The primary reasons for hunting were for food, fur, and fuel. Today, we have other means of obtaining these necessities that are much more efficient and much less backward. Animal hunting is not something we need in order to survive or thrive, and hence is a vestige from a bygone age. The exception would be if we lived in the wilderness with little to no access to temperate arable land on which to cultivate our own food, and the tradition exists and has existed in our culture as the primary source of sustenance (e.G. Native Americans, Inuit, etc.) -Even then nearly all parts of the animals are used by these cultures. Using technology as an analogy: the abacus and the slide rule were needed to calculate and measure and we've since evolved to using graphing pocket calculators and GPS... Travel agents became concierges and now google and siri... And throwing our soiled water out the window is now modern plumbing. Killing another living being for the sake of sport is quite redundant since we have no scarcity obtaining what they offer by other more civilized means. Are you hungry with no access to food? Do you need to shelter yourself from the elements? Do you lack access to electricity, gas, wood, and/or candle power for light and heat? If you answered yes to all of these, then hunting an animal and cultivating its body as a resource would be an adequate solution. If these resources can be found by other means, then hunting animals is a waste of time, waste of a life (the animal's), and the waste of a potential valuable future resource in the event of an emergency.
Next time you go hunting, take a look at the innocent animal in front of you. It doesn't know what's coming, and then BAM. It's life is over. Imagine if you lived in a world where other species were always hiding in the shadows with guns and arrows and knives, waiting for someone to come along. You take one step and feel an excruciating pain, then it's all over. Your family would miss you like heck and would forever hate the shooter. Back to real life hunting, the hated shooter is you. Animals have lives. They have hearts and souls and loving families and, oh, just admit it, they're cute as buttons. Here's a terribly sad example: look up pictures of a jackalope. It's a BUNNY. Humans OWN bunnies as pets, but when they see the antlers, they take it as a deer or something and kill it. Which even if it was a deer it would still be unjust and cruel.
In my opinion, hunting should be stopped. I have a pet-peeve when hunters say "Oh, we need to shoot animals because they are over-populating!" Really, that is just sick minded. They are killing the predators that keep the populations leveled! And think about it: There are way more humans than lots of other animals these days. Would humans like it if they were hunted down and became an endangered species? Probably not. I also REALLY HATE when they say "We rule over them." Do you think God really created us to be ignorant and try to rule all the other animals? No. God creates things for peace, not chaos and killing for fun! But hunters took their twisted little minds and decided to kill animals to extinction. It is NOT the way of life! Remember the passenger pigeon? They had to suffer through a messed up hunting contest that if you kill 10,000 of them you win. So they did the contest, and the poor little passenger pigeons died out! They were very intelligent birds, unlike lots of hunters today, that in the wars they would carry messages from leader to leader. They were a huge help. But now they are gone forever. Today, one of the only reasons of extinction is hunting. So, are you going to be cruel to mother nature and shoot the poor animals so they suffer to death, or are you going to help stop this madness?
Hunting. A murderous sport that KILLS innocence. Extinction. Caused by hunting, but hunters don't care. Why don't they? Because they are sick in the mind, imagining a deer's head on the roof of their car.... I'm concerned on how many extinctions are happening because of those selfish hunters, killing a race. These animals are dying for FUN. What if you died for FUN? They say Hunting is way of life, but that's false. Hunting is a way of death, extinction, and murder, OH YA and apparently, fun. What if the animals got guns kill you and your race?
The population of animals is decreasing a lot and the reason is humans. There are 7 BILLION humans and not even 1 billion animals of lots of species. It's not like the human species is decreasing! And hunting is NOT in need for survival or sport. A wolf NEEDS to kill and eat a deer because they HAVE to do that to survive. There is plenty of other meat in the world for humans! Healthy farms have DOMESTICATED animals raised for food and products. WILD animals were NOT raised to be over hunted and shot to death! Animals are overpopulating because of hunters killing their natural predators that actually NEED the deer and other forest animals to survive. But hunters are now just being plain ignorant, and same with cruel farmers, land destroyers, etc. Humans obviously are NOT looking at a forest animal's point of view... Hunting needs to be stopped now or all the animals will die out.
It would be fine if they ate them but no they just let like foxes get shredded by hounds and leave them what if u were a fox how would u like it to be sherdded but hounds and have ur own family killed ??? What if the fox had cubs and they would starve!!My friend told me they use like 10 hounds or more to get one fox how mean is that to let a beauiful creature get killed like that..... Are u proud . If they are attacking your chickens then you should get a higher fence or somethign dont just kill them. I know for a fact thats its not just foxes but why.... Why would anyone do that to animals the might have familys and they have hearts they can feel pain just like u .Thats why im against animal hunting. You can get meat from the buchters and you dont have to kill in a way that hurts the animal .
Animals are beautiful. Why would people want to kill them? Animals mostly die of natural causes. People kill them for food and to make their fur into something worth a lot of money. Wild animals shouldn't be treated badly or be killed for no apparent reason. Some animals can harm people, but other animals kill them.
I think it is sad that some people can only get enjoyment by killing an animal. The fact that something has to suffer so that others can get enjoyment is sick. If it was a fair fight and the animals had guns too, then I would totally respect hunting. But the animals are defenseless and guns are an unfair advantage.
In all honesty, hunting's not fair. A living creature suffers from the stupidity of human beings. I don't think it should be allowed. It's a crime. Yes I understand certain people HAVE to do it to live, because they eat the meat...But meat isn't the only source of food in the world, there is a big enough variety. Killing an animal is like killing a human. Animals sleep, eat, breath and behave like us. Whether you want to believe it or not, hunting is ruining our wild life.
The balance of power is too one sided and the environment of the animal is too damaged by humans, the animals attempts to flee or hide are completely useless thanks to those damages and to the skill level of the hunter. The animal is also incapable of handling the situation.
Animals are living things. They can become extinct if you keep killing them! IT NEEDS TO STOP. Not everybody likes it. It's very stupid in my opinion. JUST STOP. It's not fun. What if they were people? You would not shoot them. JUST DON'T HUNT! It also kills nature. We need animals!
@hunting is a way of life: It WAS a way of life. Earlier people used to hunt to forbid themselves from starving. Now we don't have scarcity of veg or non veg food and especially for those hunter who pay thousands of dollar to hunt.
@overpopulation is bad: Yeah, the world is overpopulated but NOT BY ANIMALS.
Animals haven't done anything to us and look what we are doing to them! As well said this is not a sport if the other team is not playing! We will cause the animals to be extinct forever and actually we can't live without them! It is stupid and senseless for people to be walking in the forest shooting animals for no reason and just for fun. I think this cruelty is called animal abuse and I think this "sport" should be banned and prohibited.
Would you like it if humans started shooting at you just because they want to put your head on a wall. It would be very scary. Hunting in my country (Australia) isn't common, but it's also illegal. Some animals have almost died out because of hunting. We can live off other things. Hunting, especially with endangered animals, is not needed. We can live without that.
The way people kill foxes is very inhumane, it is not fair on the fox because its one fox against many dogs, it is chased then they get ripped apart. Is this what you call a fun sport? These foxes are defenceless and have done nothing wrong towards you!! These foxes have a family to feed! They hunt them for a sport not for food! Animals have feelings just like us! Imagine how scared and helpless it's feeling! Some people just don't think about anyone but themselves.
Killing living things for fun and without reason is wrong and sick. If it isn't for necessities it should be banned. They argue they do it to prevent over population but that is not a good enough reason because with that logic, "they" are pretty much saying killing human beings is ok because we are too overpopulated.
I love how almost everyone on the no side talks about the overpopulation of animals even though were the ones overpopulating the earth. All forms of killing wildlife should be banned not just hunting because if we continue the way were going now in 100 years there will be more than 100 animals extinct and the world will come to an end because also in 100 years there will be close to almost no oil and were going to have to find another alternative fuel source if we continue our bad habits humans will go extinct also !!! Stop hunting stop clear cutting your destroying all of earths beauty for good food and wood life on earth will be impossible stop and think about what your doing before you destroy us all and I mean it that 1 tree that didn't matter 10 years ago will matter 90 years from now and nobody even tell me that technology will save us or some absurd excuse to why our habits now are fine. THINK about the future generation think about your future children and how miserable they will feel in a world of pollution.
Innocent animals should not be cruelly hunted and killed merely for sport and fun. There is no reason that people hunt animals except because they find it amusing. Hunting animals has no benefit to anyone. It merely results in less animals, a weakened ecosystem, and a reduction in the animal population that hurts humans just as much as the animal kingdom.
If you were the animal and you were killed by a human just because THEY thought it was fun and they wanted a horn or some skin as a prize from your body then what would you think about hunting then? Stop killing animals. Soon there won't be any animals left! There would be no deer frolicking in any meadow. And think about it this way when you kill a animal your taking some other animals dinner of their plate. How would YOU like it if I took your dinner away from you?
Lets put it this way. Would you like it if one day you came home and your father/older brother possibly your own mother wasn't there? You asked your other family members where your relative was, yet there is no answer. So, you decide to take a trip outside to find them. BANG!!! An ear piercing sound is heard. You fall to your own death, picked up and slammed into a truck filled with your family, and for what? "Fun"
Hunting is obviously inhumane and unnecessary in today's society. There is no justified logical explanation to continue this practice unless you are starving in the middle of nowhere. Most Americans consume too much meat as it is. Animal-based foods should be consumed less in this obese country. Also, just because hunting has been a tradition in some parts of this country, it does not mean it has to continue. The harmful traditions need to be wisely abandoned at some point and smarter ones should be created. This country needs to start respecting the environment that gives us life, the safety of people, and give up the obsession of owning guns and shooting things that are alive just because it gives you a sense of purpose. Some of us grew up without a gun in our homes and we don't yearn for one.
Why hunt for fun? Animals are becoming extinct for it I understand we need to hunt to survive but not for no reason we need to put a stop to it and only hunt for food because that's what god made us to do to hunt for food not for fun.
Yes we need to hunt to survive, and have a healthy iron intake. But why do people hunt for fun e.g. sport? In the world we live in today, there are many sports (some may say too many), that we find entertaining. If youre looking to play a sport, there are tons to choose from. Many of these make people become a lot more healthy rather than just aiming at beautiful animals and pulling a trigger.
What gives people the right to kill innocent animals that God created? Even though human beings were given an unfair advantage over all living creatures, does not mean we have rights to harm anyone or anything! A poor helpless animal, doing its daily routine, minding its own business gets shot. I'm sure this animal never desired to kill you even though you desired to kill it. Please stop hunting for sport!
Animals are beautiful, why would people want to kill them? Animals mostly die of natural causes. People kill them for food and to make their fur into something worth a lot of money. Wild animals shouldn't be treated bad or be killed for no apparent reason. Some animals can harm people, but other animals kill them.
We are the reason that most of the species that are extinct are extinct! We hunted them down until there was no more, whether it was for their body parts or just for the fun of it. Imagine yourself being that animal who is one of the last of your species left because stupid people are trying to kill you.
Anything which aims to make a 'sport' out of violence and killing innocent creatures, I believe is harmful not only for the beings which is kills, but also for the humans who encourage and kill. Killing can never be something which is regarded as civilised or humane and therefore it threatens these qualities in humans. Hunting, as a sport, teaches those who partake in it that it is entertaining to use living beings as play things and that killing them is ok for this reason. I often see people support this 'sport' in the name of tradition, of it being something that their country and family have always done. But tradition often becomes outdated. For example, in Ancient Rome, it was deemed ok for slaves to be thrown into the arena with a beast, only to be torn apart for the entertainment of the spectators. This 'tradition' or form of 'entertainment' is no longer acceptable and can be regarded as quite horrifying. However, the parallels which can be drawn between this and hunting with hounds is quite disturbing. Just like the spectators in the arena enjoyed watching a slave be torn to pieces by a beast, some people today enjoy watching a fox be torn to pieces by a hound. Leonardo Da Vinci said 'The time will come when men such as I, will look upon the murder of animals as they now look upon the murder of men.' I do not doubt that he is right. The example of the slaves in the arena show that the murder of humans has not always been looked upon in the way which we now look at it. From this premises, we can suggest as Da Vinci did that the murder of animals will not always been accepted as it is now. Until humans cease the taking of the lives of animals, we cannot be regarded as civilised, for the taking of their lives is cruel and the work of savages.
I think that hunting innocent animals is no longer needed in the world. I understand that in the past before farms hunting was a no brainer to receive nutrition for yourself and others but now that the reproduction in farms of animals is in our era nobody needs to hunt anymore and just thinking that people hunt for pleasure sickens me.
Animals have to live their lives just like humans do. I hate to see dead animals because then I start feeling bad about myself even if I know I didn't do it. I hate that people go hunting. Some times it's to eat and sometimes it's just for fun. I don't think it's funny at all. We can all fix this. Vote yes to ban hunting. Please. I'm begging you.
It's barbaric and cruel to hunt other living beings for recreation. Even if it is for food, it shouldn't be done because a human always has the choice of being a vegetarian. We humans have destroyed most of nature's wonders and forced creatures who stood in our path to flee. And if that wasn't enough, we go out into the little land they have because we paid the government some money to get a "hunting permit" and now can roam freely in their homes to hunt them down with artificial weapons that are capable of taking away a life with a single movement of the finger. Money shouldn't have the power to take away a precious life, no matter how insignificant the creature was. Nature holds many wonders, and when those wonders go extinct, they'll be gone for good. Our next generation won't be able to appreciate them.
If you're dying of starvation, go kill yourself a nice buck to eat. If not, just go buy a skeet shooter and have some fun that way. Killing wild animals for the sick & twisted fun of it is just wrong. Step out of the Stone Age and start living in the 21st century you cold blooded hicks.
Animals are beautiful, why would people want to kill them? Animals mostly die of natural causes. People kill them for food and making their fur into something worth a lot of money. Wild animals shouldn't be treated badly or be killed for no apparent reason. Some animals can harm people but other animals kill them.

Hunting innocent animals is wrong in so many ways. To all you hunters out there, imagine if you were put against an animal without a gun or knife, who would win then? Hunters are only ever victorious because of the equipment they use. I really don't know how people can hunt for fun, seriously no one needs to hunt for entertainment, we are not in the neolithic period. Hunting is sick and it needs to stop, it is murder! How is murdering an animal different from murdering a fellow human being? Hunters are giving humans a bad name, where is your humanity?
Animals are beautiful, why would people want to kill them? Animals mostly die of natural causes. People kill them for food and making their fur into something worth a lot of money. Wild animals shouldn't be treated bad or be killed for no apparent reason. Some animals can harm people but other animals kill them.

Animals hunt to survive but we hunt to mount their heads on a wall and compete to see who can kill the most. Hunting for food I can respect but not for fun. We beat the animals because they do something bad but when we destroy their hunting and breeding grounds we don't expect them to try and fight back and yet we call them monsters.
I said yes, because I think people could just survive on the food they have (such as; fruits, vegetables, and grains.) Why did we have to start killing animals in the first place? What did they ever do to us? Why would we harm them? Why can't they just kill us? Wouldn't we be sad if one of us was killed by another kind? That's how they feel.

Animals are harmless and people abuse their hunting privileges by hunting other animals. Plus people are ignorant when it comes to hunting properly. I think that hunting should be banned to a certain extent. If you're wondering where this came from.......It came from a 13 yr. old child that believes that hunting is fine but we need to use better weapons like a bow and arrow. - Christian West
There are farms in Africa that raise lions for the sole purpose of Trophy Hunting and for pure profit. The hunting companies and the hunters will use phrases like "population control" and "for conservation"? Where does killing a beautiful lion fall into either of these categories? I'm all for hunting for the sole purpose of survival anywhere around the world, but the killing of the lions goes far beyond the scope of survival. Check out the pictures on the web displaying photos of these hunters with a gun in their hands posing next to a dead, incredible animal, holding its mouth open to mimic a roar, and grinning like a Cheshire cat. When a male lion in the wild is shot and killed, it leaves his pride without a male to fight for their territory. Other males will then take over the pride, killing all of the offspring, in order to introduce their own gene pool into the pride disturbing the already delicate balance of the lion population. Its disturbing enough to have the resident lions hunted and killed let alone the senseless killing of the ones that are raised to be killed. To those lion hunters that tell their sappy stories that hunting is a bonding experience, I say "get a life instead of taking one.
Hunting should be banned as it effects our environment and ecology. It provides an hindrance to normal food chain and many animals are at a stage of being extinct. The main reason why some animals are extinct? Most of you might know that birds like Dodo, King Island Emu, Laughing Owls and many more are now extinct and gone from the surface of the Earth because of hunting. Hunting: the stalking and killing animals, has been a tradition since the Ice Age and has become ever more popular every year in every century. I know that you know that hunters are one of the main reasons why animals suffered, extinct and endangered. Not only animals are being killed, they are also suffering the pain. Many animals suffer a long, painful death when they are injured but not killed by hunters. A member of the Maine Bow hunters Alliance estimates that 50 percent of animals who are shot with crossbows are wounded in extreme pain but not killed. A study of 80 white-tailed deer found that 75 deer who had been shot with traditional archery equipment wounded but not recovered by hunters. The death of animal due to hunting is estimated to be more than 500 million animals per year. In addition to this, animal hunting can cause a great fund loss to the government because government try the best to save the innocent animals by providing an animal centre, hospitals and zoo. Tax might also increase because of this and I’ am sure you wouldn’t want a tax increase. Although animal hunting might benefit us by providing clothes, meats and equipment, obviously anyone would know that if animals extinct, there would be no clothes, meats and equipment. Furthermore, we can use silk and cotton to make inexpensive, high quality clothes.
I believe that it is wrong to hunt animals for sport, just because you feel like it. It's animal cruelty, and younger kids are being exposed to violence enough with violent video games. Being introduced to the fact that you can shoot things for absolutely no reason is not a good influence.
Also, what has a deer or a tiger ever done to you? Would you like it if a deer came into your house with a gun and just decided to shoot your parents? Didn't think so...
It all comes around to killing our animal population. We are losing enough species as it is with global warming and forest fires.
Finally, I hope that more people will realize that hunting is only going to be a problem, more than now, in the end. Please stop hunting!!!

Wild animals shouldn't be treated bad or be killed for no apparent reason. Some animals can harm people but other animals kill them.
I think hunting should be banned because people never use all of the animal they want the meat why not use the fur. And putting animal heads like deer on the wall is gross. I hate when you're walking and you see it and it just stares at you. So these are my reasons I think it should be banned.
For the most part, especially where I live, people don't have to kill animals to survive or thrive. So, most people hunt for fun. Yes, I said it.. For FUN! Killing for fun is cruel and barbaric. Why would people want to kill things when they don't have to? The whole, "lets go out and shoot vulnerable animals for fun", idea is sick and it needs to be outlawed. We are not cavemen anymore.
Hunting to "control the population" is grossly misguided. Hunters have killed off all of the natural predators of these animals (wolves, mountain lions, etc.) so OF COURSE there is overpopulation. Something tells me that this "excuse" is something that hunters say to make themselves look as though they "respect" the environment. This couldn't be farther from the truth. Hunters nowadays are doing nothing but destroying the environment. Without a doubt, hunting should be illegal. And these predators should be reintroduced into their particular habitat to naturally control the population.
We depend on animals to live, eat and drink. But we need to RESPECT them and know that without them we would die. We hunt them and we hunt us and then we will die with them. Just because we evolved doesn't mean they wont. We need them to survive.
Because animals deserve to live in peace and shouldn't be killed cruelly for fun or whatever. They're treated badly enough as it is so yes animal hunting should definitely be banned. Its horrible seeing lovely creatures killed for fun when they've done nothing to be killed for so stop animal hunting.
First off hunting is a way of life for many people, it is how they grew up and loved to do. If there aren't hunters there will be over population and will start disease, forcing animals into the city. Plus with that those animals will suffer from disease and it keeps the animal population controlled. But with species that the population becomes low and is no longer hunted till the population is back up. This is how we have lived for thousands of years and it should stay that way.
From the time that I was 6 years old, my dad took me deer hunting every year. It was one of the few times that it was just me and him, and it was some of the best times of my life. He taught me to respect the wildlife, and never let anything go to waste. When I was 10 years old, he was diagnosed with leukemia. Even after that, he found a way to take me hunting every year, even though I could see how much it hurt him. When I was 13 years old, he passed away. I am now 17, and I still go hunting every year. It is one of the only times that I can feel at peace. When I am out there in the mountains, I feel like he is still with me. If you want to take that away from me, then go ahead and try, but I sure won't let it go without a fight.
Hunting should not be banned because it is a way of life you get food and that is how some people live. Also the over population is very bad because animals may have diseases and they would pass them on and they would be everywhere, hunters keep the population under control.
Hunting is good, so good it makes good look....not good. So be good and don't think good is good enough because if you want to not hunt then that means no food and die of hunger to your grave. So be who you are cause this be America where American, Mexicans and French people live. Full of great people like Mr. Hershey and HE had to hunt chocolate bars. SO LET HUNTING STAY IN THIS GREAT EARTH GREATEST PLANET GREATEST PERSON and the greatest person is the guy right next to me. Don't think I'm pulling on your arm this is for real.
We have to eat to survive! Farm animals are not enough, we sell animal's fur because we don't want to throw it away when we eat the animal. ONLY EXTINCT ANIMAL SHOULDN'T BE HUNTED. Hunting is for food. If we don't hunt, animals will be overpopulate and animals will end up in the streets and it will die under a car. Plus some of them will die in the winter anyway.
I believe in hunting. If you eat meat, you are killing an animal in the process. I believe it is necessecary to hunt once in your life to learn where your food comes from. I dont think it is correct to kill an animal and just leave it. I think if you are going to shoot a deer, then you should use all its meat and bones and hide and antlers for every reason you can.
People say "animals have feelings" and i think they have some, but not as much as humans. God created humans specially as humans, we have souls. Animals don't have souls, meaning when they die, they don't go to heaven or hell, they just die, it's like killing the weeds in your front yard. Also, many people grew up hunting, that's just something they love to do. You get to sit out in the woods, harvest an animal, and gut it and skin it. Then you get to eat it, which allows you to see the full circle of life. It really is an amazing thing when you think about it.
It shouldn't be completely banned. The killing of certain animals, especially those that are endangered or are threatened with extinction shouldn't be hunted at all. ALL COUNTRIES should agree to protect the endangered animals and there should be SEVERE penalties for killing them in every country. However, certain animals are actually over populated and need to be hunted. Kind of like population control. A great example would be deer. If they banned hunting of deer those deer that would've been hunted would just starve to death over winter. (In many states where there are cold winters there is simply not enough food to feed that large of a population of deer, they would slowly and miserably die.) At least, hunting has some positive points when it comes to these overpopulated species. I don't agree with hunting for sport though. IF YOU KILL IT YOU EAT IT! Period. Trophy hunting should be illegal. Especially since in these remote places where deer hunting is popular there are so many poor people who could really use the meat. IF YOU WANT TO HUNT BUT NOT EAT THE MEAT MAKE FRIENDS WITH ONE OF THESE FAMILIES AND GIVE IT TO THEM. They could use the meat and it won't go to waste. You'll actually be doing them a great favor, and possible giving them enough meat to eat over the winter. So many of these families that live and hunt in smaller communities really need the meat for food. These people don't have good jobs, many of them are WAY BELOW POVERTY LEVEL. This might be the only way they get to eat fresh meat. Most of their diet is processed garbage, and there's no way they could afford the meat otherwise.
For us Christians we believe that God created every thing perfectly and we also believe that the Bible is the supreme guide for morality. If we take a look at our mouths we will notice that we were given molars to chew through meat. We can also find written in the Bible: "Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you." So that makes hunting morally correct.
We humans need meat in order to survive because we need the vitamin B12 and proteins. If we do not consume this vitamin we could end-up having anemia, which in severe cases leads to leukemia. Research shows that we can also get protein from nuts but nuts have cholesterol and sugar which leads to other illness. So that makes it also biologically correct.
Hunting is also a source of income for farmers, thus making it economically correct because it starts to rotate the fabled economic wheel of one creating sales and profit for the other.
My final reason would be that as we know animals are creatures that relay on instinct and there for produce a lot of young which can lead to over population causing disease between animals leading to an illness in us humans. Such as the recent Bird flu and Swine flu. An over population of animals can also force the animals into the city causing bitter disasters. For example recently in London [in London fox hunting is not allowed] a young girl was attacked by a fox for hunger reasons.
I would also like to say a piece of my county's history in Malta during the stay of the Cavaliers of Saint John or better known as the knights of Malta banned hunting on types of animals including wild rabbit. That year the harvest was ruined, forcing the country to import more food from Sicily resulting in an increase in taxation to pay for the products this led to the revolt of the priests.
I would like to conclude with this quote -With great power comes great responsibility-. The reason for this quote is that I believe that although hunting has its pros we must use it responsibly avoiding cruelty to animals and restoring balance.
Animals are beneath us intellectually which allows us to do whatever we want with them. And for the people comparing us to animals, just stop. If you are against hunting, you shouldn't own an animal because technically that is your slave since you don't pay it and keep it against it's will. Oh, and you also can't eat any beef because that was an animal that was killed. You also better make sure you never hit an animal on a road. Also don't watch horse racing or dog racing. There are so many loop holes to animal lovers arguments it's just plain obnoxious. Get over yourselves. Also, as somebody pointed out, hunters are generally MORE environmentally friendly and animal friendly than most average non hunters.
The reasons of animals extinction are many because god make the animals for a reason for our fun and our fun is chase the animals and kill them you hunters need to reflect when you are eating the animal , and other reason for sport and bad thing .Imagine you being the animal and being killed would you like that evil hunters.
I hope all of the people who support the ban are vegetarians. Otherwise they are guilty of "hunting." They may not go out and kill the animal, but they are guilty of consuming it. Animals taken to slaughter for meat in the supermarket are killed in a much less humane manner than hunting. Hunting is not for fun. Hunting is for food. People enjoy putting food on the table for their families, just like the non-hunters. Those who are opposed to hunting may not have all the facts. Hunters don't go into the forest and kill the first animal that crosses their path, they wait for the right deer (3 1/2 yr old deer or older) before they shoot. The older the deer, the more meat, and every year the deer is alive; the less likely the deer will survive the next harsh winter. I live in a sub-division that everyone has at least an acre. We have white-tail deer everywhere and they get hit by cars and die slowly on the side of the road. If their numbers were thinned out, there wouldn't be so many hit by cars and there wouldn't be malnourished deer, with their ribs showing, in the winter months as the deer compete for food. There are a lot of people who throw out corn for the deer thinking it will sustain them; it's like trying to sustain your child on candy. There is no nutritional value to corn. The deer that are hit most in our sub-division are the deer that are crossing the road to get to the corn feeders. I would much rather see a deer shot and killed in a humane way than watch deer starve to death during the winter or starve to death as their teeth grind down (due to age) and they are unable to keep food in their mouths long enough to swallow it. I agree that there are unethical hunters, it would be ignorant to think otherwise, but most hunters follow the ethical laws of hunting. Those are the hunters and hunting that I support.
So killing and eating an elk or deer is just the same as going to McDonald's or Wendy's and eating a hamburger. So which would you rather, eat something you just went out and hunted (by the way, this is really fresh and pretty much free) or eat something that was killed weeks ago, frozen and thawed several times then placed right on a bun and sold. HUNTING SHOULDN'T BANNED!
For those who think that hunting should be banned because its cruel, stop and think about the store bought meat. The way that they treat those animals is more crueler than shooting a deer or rabbit with a gun or bow. By the time the cows reach the slaughter house most cant even walk so they are draged the rest of the way, in fact there is a video of a cow be draged across the ground. So if I were an animal I would rather be out in a woods and actually have a chance of survival instead of being in a small pin where I will soon be taken to a slaughter house. Also the animals that are hunted usually live for another 10 to 15 minuets after being shot, if it was a good shot. The cow that is being taken to a slaughter house could suffer for hours from broken bones and other injures before they kill it.
Sport hunting should not be banned because despite what many antihunters will say sport hunting helps conserve many species. Take the African Lion for example, native people consider it a pest because it is dangerous. Hunters have helped natives realize that these animals are worth more alive than dead. Don't take this the wrong way, I'm not saying we should start hunting animals that truly are endangered. I could go all day and provide many examples of why hunting helps animal species but I'll keep it brief.
Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. -Genesis 9:3
Hey, it's Gods will.
And for all the rest of the religions:
Animals are rarely ever killed for fun. We hunt for a trophy and a big ol' steak.
Hunting for fun is called poaching. Highly illegal and frowned upon by hunters worldwide. It is also punishable with jail time and astounding fines.
Hunting supports the economy with taxes. Also, animal population would be outrageous if there was no hunting. A good example is the show Yukon Men. The people in Alaska need the animal food and their skins. These people depend on it for their homes, life, and for warmth. Hunting should be allowed.
There's a reason we hunt and that's to keep the animal population to a minimum. It's not because we want to be cruel to the animals but it's what we should do. There's a difference in doing something just to be cruel, but yet again there's a reason for everything that happens.
Animal should be hunted for three reasons. Number one, animal hunting is a sport. Number two, animals feed us too. Last but not the least animals make us be alive. What I think is that people that are vegetarians are like mutants because only 6.7% people of the world are vegetarians , while 93.3% eat meat.
Hunting stops overpopulation. If there are too many deer in one area they will eat all the food and starve and suffer. They may also have to go looking for food and more will get hit by cars. When animals get hit by cars they suffer. People in the cars are also in danger when they hit a deer. It is wrong to kill an animal and just leave it. Responsible hunters use what they kill for food for their family. Deer hunting is an important way to keep the population down and it saves them from suffering.
People can't hunt everyday, you can only hunt during hunting season. In hunting you have rules to follow and if you don't follow these rules you will get arrested. Animals die everyday. People eat meat everyday. It's fun to practice on a target. Animals are made for food and to produce more everyday. Animals are beautiful but they are made for providing food.
First of all, the person who wrote that hunters have no limitations and are free to do whatever the like, should not be believed, as they have clearly never done any personal research, and should keep their uneducated tongue still. Hunters have many limitations. For example: you need a license to go deer hunting. As a matter of fact, you also need an any-deer permit to shoot something other than male deer. Ever heard of a game warden? Yeah, they enforce all of those laws. Hunting keeps animal species from overpopulation, which would then cause them to starve to death over a few weeks. Would you rather get shot and bleed to death, or die over the course of three weeks? Obvious, I know. Hunters (yes, I know this is a fact because I am one myself), are more environmentally conscience. We care about the wildlife, and have a deep respect for everything in it. A major part of hunting isn't to KILL a animal, but instead, just spending time outside. Hunters are more involved in nature. Another fact? In order to say hunting is wrong, you must first participate in it. You do not have the right to denounce hunting until you have been hunting, and killed an animal. I shot a turkey last spring. I loved it, and I'm going to keep doing it. You know what else? When I get home from school, I'm going to go find a ten point buck, and I'm going to shoot it, then pull all of it's guts out of its stomach. Yay!
Hunting has gone on for millions of years on almost every continent we need to keep the tradition going! Some people say its cruel but it keeps the population down so they aren't running crazy through the cities and towns. Also it keeps the animal from having a slow painful death and it feeds us. At least the responsible hunters don't let the meat go to waste.
Many animals such as Deer, American Antelope, Turkeys, and many others indirectly grow too greatly as a result of human interference of, their populations overcome the natural carrying capacity of their environment. That being said if hunters were not to stem the population of these animals then they would ultimately starve to death and be in far worst shape. Yes, the other side may disagree that this is a cruel past time of the United States and they are partly right if one thinks about it. To go in the wilderness and hunt animals when one could easily go to the store and buy meat seems cruel. But what about the deplorable conditions of feed lot cattle or penned in "free roaming" poultry. Yes, this is not an absolute and infallible fact but the point is that these animals would be far worst off as a whole if hunters did not maintain a "Healthy" lean population. This point of view of mine is is purely on an ecological standpoint and has nothing to do with the "thrill" of hunting or the cruelty that many on the other side of this issue claim. They claim that animals have the same rights as people. I have nothing against this claim but to allow them, who they claim to be on the same level as us to starve and perish in massive numbers, so great in fact that they would litter the wilderness with their dead seems far more cruel in my personal opinion.
Most of the arguments that people here have given against hunting are either a) we don't need to kill wild animals, they should die of natural causes and it's cruel to hunt them or b) we already have plenty of food, why kill these animals. Unfortunately, both of these arguments are ignorant and illogical- and certainly not enough justification to ban animal hunting.
For the first- most wild animals probably die worse deaths than being killed instantaneously (or close to it) by a bullet. Deaths through starvation or being killed and/or eaten (often alive) by another animal are both a lot more unpleasant than being killed by a hunter. Not to mention that the treatment of the animals that are farmed for meat is much, much more horrific than the death of an animal that is killed by a hunter. Unless you're a vegetarian, you have no grounds to claim that hunting is inhumane- you support far worse practices with the food you eat every day. Not to mention that anyone claiming "you wouldn't want to be hunted if you were an animal" is committing a logical fallacy by anthropomorphizing the animals to which they refer. These are not humans. They are deer, rabbits, squirrels, hogs, ducks, etc. Killing them is not murder.
As to the second, let me start by saying that I personally believe that if someone hunts an animal, they should use the meat. That said, there is clearly not enough justification to ban hunting in general because some people hunt solely for sport. As long as the populations of these animals are not being depleted- which they are not, due to game limits, then there isn't much justification to not kill them. Again, when people claim that hunting for sport is cruel, I would point out that the way they get their own meat, eggs, dairy, leather, and any other sort of animal product is far crueler.
Ultimately, most of the arguments in favor of banning hunting that have been given on this site are poorly thought-out and demonstrate a knee-jerk, emotional reaction to the topic. It's unfortunate that the people who are the least knowledgeable are often the ones with the strongest opinions.
This debate is ridiculous, half of the 'Yes' answers are exactly the same, just copy-pasted to make the percentage increase, which is really sad. Also I cannot stress enough how much the 'Yes' answers are completely uneducated in this subject, most of them are preaching that "animals are beautiful" which is of course a complete generalisation and is going against all nature. Some of these answers are on the wrong side, and one of the 'Yes' answers says we should hunt them with bows and arrows! That's way more cruel than shooting them!
Hunters do not hunt just to kill something. They just want the fun, food and fur that hunting brings. In fact, most hunters wish they could get the fun, food and fur without killing an animal. Even those who don't use the fur or meat find the pleasure in hunting comes from walking in the woods, stalking an animal, and enjoying nature and their place in it. Of course their are a sick few who enjoy hunting from shooting an animal and watching it drop dead, but the vast majority instead enjoys walking in the woods and the meat. Also, when a hunter kills a deer, he is not trying to hatefully sabotage the deer's mission in life, whatever it may be. This is unlike killing Osama Bin Laden to stop Islam, shooting at enemy infantry to make your country exactly the way you want it to be, or even killing coyotes to stop the predation of your livestock. All are examples of killing to sabotage his/ hers/ theirs/ its mission. In the ten commandments, where it says "thou shalt not kill" it means "don't kill to sabotage" not "don't kill at all".
Hunting can help you to get closer to nature, to learn about the people who were here before you were. If your under pressure and are stressed out hunting can soothe you and help you to get away from the world. Hunting can also help you economically, one deer can feed a small family for a long time.
It is more humane to kill a deer or other animal with a gun, because if you make a good shot it dies quickly without suffering. Plus, if animals were to overpopulate we would have a big problem. How would you like if you opened your back door and were stabbed by deer horns? Nobody would. So keep hunting legal.
Based on critical thinking (Google it to refine any argument, gain credibility, and learning to push aside your biases and assumptions) and a sound research method, regulated hunting is humane. Resources for all creatures is finite. Humans and deer (and other game animals) need room to live, but the room to roam and populate has it's limits. For example, deer populations need to be restricted by the available food limits of their respective habitats. Without hunting, the deer population would grow to the point of encroaching into human areas far worse than now, causing safety issues for humans and animals (many more vehicle/deer collision), and human crops being overrun by a deer population explosion; more deer require more food. Deer and other game animals that aren't culled to acceptable limits based on the area of their habitat have to eat and don't care about fences, gates, or walls. They will go where ever they can find food, including right into your daily lives. Limiting the deer populations also limits the amount of deer being injured/killed by cars and trucks (occupants of the vehicle benefit from this too), attacked by dogs, and disrupting commerce. There are already laws on the book against poaching, hunting restrictions, and game limits for a reason so that OVER hunting does not take place. The reason why we have deer, where deer belong, in the wild, and not in your back yards and on the main street of a medium to large cities is because of appropriate hunting regulations. Without sound hunting regulations, as an example, there would be daily car/deer collisions on all major roads, killing commerce and your ability to get where you're going. Many more deer and people would be unnecessarily injured and killed each day. Hunt in the wrong season, with the wrong equipment, kill to many, kill wrong gender, and the hunter will either be fined, equipment confiscated (included the vehicle if it played a direct role in the crime), and or jail time. Without hunting, deer and other large animals would become a public nuisance or worse, a public danger (ie big cats, wolves, and bear hunting humans. Even large deer can kill a man). Imagine a population explosion of predatory animals? They wouldn't just restrict their diets to non-human cuisine. Granted, over hunting leads to extinction, which is much more inhumane that hunting that results in safe population control. The only other way to solve this problem of hunting is to limit the human population of the world by 75%. Seems silly right?
Squirrels and rabbits carry diseases and what do we do when we can't even go outside because we're infested with them? What if cockroaches had poison to kill us with? Should we ban killing vermin because killing them isn't humane? Killing anything isn't exactly humane but at times necessary. Why don't you care about people who die every day because their insurance won't pay for the surgery they need because it costs too much and the person isn't a celerity?
LET ALL THE BAMBI'S AND THUMPER'S STARVE TO DEATH OR DIE OF DISEASE CAUSED BY OVERPOPULATION AND UNCONTROLLED BREEDING! ! LOL! People have been hunting for years. Rural and urban people differ and urban people don't understand rural life or hunting. Hunting helps keep population in check and prevents animals such as deer with few natural predators from starving to death by culling deer each year. Hunter donate and contribute more to nature conservation than non-hunters and city dwellers ever dreamed. The swamps, marshes, woodlands that serve as habitat for so many animals, including endangered ones we don't hunt, were preserved through the help of hunters.
For a start, the question is way too general. There isn't just one type of hunting - now trophy hunting, that's not good in my opinion, and is pretty much selective assassination. Hunting for food and hunting as a cull method on the other hand, I completely agree with. Hunting for food, for one thing, is perfectly natural for humans, as omnivores by nature. Hunting for culls is necessary for the good of the herd, and the food is eaten anyway. So I answered No, hunting in general should not be banned.
I have come to the conclusion that many have no idea there are hunting regulations that EVERY hunter must abide by. Yes there are a few bad apples that don't, what group in society doesn't? There are hunting seasons, limits in the number of animals one can take via tag systems, and quotas for acceptable population size which are made by wildlife biologists.
The majority of hunters find it to be a great benefit to be able to hunt and put meat on their tables , in their freezers, or donated to the local homeless shelters that are in need of food. I have not bought a single pound of store bought ground meat or steak in the last 5 months thanks to hunting. I feel pride to know where my food came from, and how it was treated. Making ethical kills is a huge part of what hunters try to do, none want to watch an animal suffer.
If someone wants to know how it feels to hunt for their first time, watch Joe Rogan do it on the sportsman's channel, or just watch the 2 minute clip on youtube. He goes into the details of how it felt and how the experience actually changed a lot of his thoughts about it.
People go hunting every year and only about 3% or less of them die from hunting. Another reason hunting should not be banned is because it's a source of meat and everybody loves meat. One more reason that hunting should not be banned is because it's fun and it gives people a chance to go outside and enjoy nature.
It definitely needs to be regulated in a much stricter manner, for example have more people watching for poaching, I get that poaching is hard to follow but what wouldn't be hard would be to put up more stations around areas that are frequently hunted in or areas that are restricted for hunting. Also we need to have it the way the native Americans had it and not waste the animal as much as we currently do. It's not much to ask that we sell or use all of the animal.
It keeps populations in check and balanced to protect against predators and starvation. Nature is a cruel mistress and without the controlled, well managed hunts, many more young animal would suffer needlessly, dying from too many predators or starving to death due to resource competition. Hunters are also the best conservationists I've ever met.
It should not be made obligatory to ban hunting,as we all know hunting for survival is the man's greatest need in today's world, where only 'plants' are not being able to suffice our needs. That does not mean that animals should be killed as a matter of sport but the animals which are needed for survival should be definitely executed.
Do you know that if we were to ban hunting that we might as well get rid of our vehicles to. You wouldn't be able to drive down the road without hitting a deer. Animals would start roaming through towns and there would be nothing that we could do about it. No matter how many of you tree huggers think its possible to control deer population your wrong. The average buck mates with about 6 does.
...than we find in the grocery store. Meat bought at the grocery store consists only of pork, beef and chicken that is far from free range, treated with various unnatural substances, and unknown is the entire agricultural process of how it got to the table. Of course there are specialty stores where you can buy free range to wild meat, all natural, and they are happy to tell you the probably simple story of that venison roast you just bought. Most people however cannot afford this, and it is unfair to deny them the experience of real food by banning hunting. There are also some people, though a minority who are very poor, such as university students, for which hunting saves them money and from hunger. So it is unfair to deny these people from eating at all by banning hunting.
There are more whitetail deer today than there were when Christopher Columbus arrived here. We've killed off all of their natural predators (wolfs, coyotes) and provided them well managed farmland for them to eat. Without hunters, animal population expands to overrun the food supply and then contracts due to starvation. Properly managed hunting keeps animal population in check and prevents torturous periods of starvation for the animals.
People hunt so that many more can live. Without hunting, life would lead to over population and starvation, a much worse way to go than a bullet. The harvest is controlled based on animal populations and is part of sustaining those population. Without hunting, starvation and predation will kill off more than the number taken by hunters. Really, hunters protect the wildlife, and the wilderness, better than any save the planet type out there. They have a vested interest and have assisted in re-introducing animals to places where they became extinct (Elk in Ontario, for example). Hunters are a needed balance in the ecosystem that we are all a part of, and hunters and non-hunters both need to recognize this.
When I take an animal, to the best of my knowledge that animal has lived a free life up until that date. I'm not going to give up hunting, so I can get force fed crap meat like that you'd get at a Burger King. I'm a hunter of deer, and hogs for meat. Hogs also destroy crops.
Yes, hunting is violent, and it is bloody, and animals die. But with rare exception, an animal killed by a hunter has had a natural life. It has probably bred. It eats from the wild. It is natural. And it's death, by gun or by bow, is less violent than that of a factory farmed animal. What's more, hunters are, more and more, the last line of defense for conservation. When humans take up land, animals overpopulate and die horrific deaths of disease and starvation. Hunters cull the herds without wasting the meat. Hunters (and fishermen) are conserving open spaces and wetlands and lakes and rivers from development and mining and drilling and overuse by corporate farms. Hunters are teaching their children and grandchildren to treasure the earth, and to respect the animals they will eat. Hunters are not wanton killers - they respect the animals they kill. And forget your stereotypes. Sure, many of our fellow hunters are politically conservative, but guess what? Some of us are Obama-voting, Volvo-driving, Starbucks sipping, hockey/soccer practice driving liberals. We get why you're opposed, we just disagree. Next time you eat a burger, remember that cow was herded into a sterile factory, hit with a bolt-captive stun gun, and systematically carved apart. Next time you have an asparagus stalk or a potato, remember that even if it's organic. It was farmed on land that drove animals away, that the fertilizer ran off into a creek, to a river, to the ocean. We have great responsibility to be stewards of this planet - and there are hardly better stewards of the water and woods than those that no it as intimately as hunts and fishermen.
So to all of the stupid people saying that hunting is "cruel and unfair" or its "ignorant and barbaric slaughter" ummm do you guys not realize that the gross meat you buy in stores was killed too?!
The farms raise animals just to lead them to their fate.
So just remember, that burger you're shoving in your face was literally slaughtered. BUT not by hunters.
You cant tell me the meat you're buying isn't dead so just shut up about it.
Otherwise disease, starvation, and predators will be the only control of the population. These are the things that can lead to extinction vs. Regulated and managed hunting. I live in an area where hunting whitetails is not allowed. Now there's coyotes, and reports of peoples pets being killed by them. They were not there when the population was allowed to be controlled, there were no coyotes or wolves in the area, and area farmers did not lose a lot of their crops to these animals.
Hunting is a tradition for some and a form of entertainment for others. Also, it gets countries and nations worldwide a lot of their food. If the Native Americans and our ancestors could hunt, why can't we? Another good thing about hunting is because some people make a living off of it! And for all you ladies who like your fur coats, jackets, boots, etc., how will you get your fur clothing without the hunters to get it? And besides, for some people, hunting is the only form of entertainment they have. Plus, how would the economy survive without the modern day fur trade? And without the fur, many people would be out of their jobs. Who's with me?
Why is it that people believe humans cant hunt because its inhumane. Animals kill other animals every day but I don't see anyone complaining about that. Also, I don't just hunt for sport I eat the animal I killed because its fresh meat, I sure as hell don't want any of those salty, preservative added meats at the local grocery store. Its the path of nature deal with it. Just because you think its wrong doesn't mean it is. I don't see ancestors for killing many animals all the time so what's the difference. Am I not allowed to hunt for fresh meat too? It makes no sense to me. People have to deal with it, it is just nature we are animals too so we also hunt what's the big deal.
It is sad to hear so much opposition to hunting by people who don't understand it in the least. Reading so many argument on over-harvest is ludicrous because it is well-documented that hunting no longer over-harvest ANYTHING. It is habitat destruction that is holds majority of the blame in low population levels. Hunting and related recreation is the single biggest (exponentially) factor behind our current conservation levels and provides over well over a billion dollars nationally to conservation of those resources. No hunter wants to over-hunt.
Hunting wild animals is morally superior to buying food from a cellophane wrap at walmart. Why?
The meat at walmart is raised in packed facilities all its life, being fed artificial growth hormones and fattening diets. The animals are cramped, stressed, and are sometimes unhealthy. After growing up, they're hung by their legs and their throat is sliced, where they bleed out, are packaged and sold to blind sheep.
OR
The animal grows up naturally in the forest with his small family. Happy and naturally, he grows in the wild where he belongs. Until one day, he's munching on grass where *BANG* he drops dead quickly and humanely. The hunter than can skin, butcher, and serve his family safe, natural, happy meat.
Pros: The meat costs as much as one round of ammo - $1. If you can feed your family for a while for $1 hunting can be a life saver financially for many.
The meat is natural. No growth hormones or genetic engineering; just good ol' fashioned natural selection.
It's fun. Hippies call it cruel to "kill innocent animals for fun" but it's not an empty savage act of murder. It's working for your food. There's no pride in going to walmart and buying cellophane animals. When hunting you can be proud of working, tracking hunting and preparing your own food. It bonds family and friends too, as it creates a subculture of like minded people.
Cons: NONE. A responsible hunter will never have to deal with a "suffering animal," because a responsible hunter will use a round powerful enough and have shot placement good enough to take down game quickly and humanely.
The populations will not go down or go extinct. Hunting is regulated; they keep track of population levels and if they get too low they'll sell less licenses and tags.
I'm talking about hunting for sustenance, which I strongly believe is a human right. We should be able to legally hunt our own food.
Hunting for sport is a different story. I do frown upon this.
Animal hunting has a long tradition among many people as a valid way to put food on the table, so, no, banning it would be wrong. However, there are those that only hunt for the thrill and sport of it, and care not for what happens to the carcass of the animal, once they have the head to mount on their wall. These people should stop. Animals are a valuable resource in many ways, and to hunt them for the sheer joy of killing is pointless. If you are among those few who utilize the animal to feed your family in an effort to make a better life for them, I say carry on.
Hunting should not be banned. Banning hunting would not only take away the rights of hunters, but also take away the passion and the obsession for being out in the woods. As a child, I was taught many valuable life lessons while hunting with my Grandpa and I wish to pass that tradition down to my son as well. By taking away the sport you're taking away a life long tradition for many people. This was, and still is, a way to bring food to your family/household.
No. I know many consider it a terrible sport but, it does have advantages. Gas and munchies which we hunters sometimes forget to pack or don’t pack enough of. And it keeps the population down so that owners in an area aren't inconvenienced with these animals in their yards making a mess and eating things they shouldn't be eating. And there are many hunters that go on a trip and return home empty handed. It’s not as terrible as some people think.
People have been hunting for years and they have been taking the fur and the food off of the bear or deer or something like that. It’s natural for us to hunt. Not because it’s fun to take down a bear or a deer or a fox or something like that. I have been hunting before and it was fun because it was me, my mom and Kevin.
Hunting is not about killing defenseless animals. It is about being in nature and providing for yourself and others. Hunters kill to hunt and NOT hunt to kill, they are very different things. (there is a .About page on it, very informative and can put the argument across far better than I ever can).
I say that unless you are a vegan that you effectively cannot support this or else you would be hypocritical. Why? Well where does roast beef for Sunday lunch come from? If the answer is "The supermarket" then you are deluding yourself. A cow was bred in captivity to be slaughtered when the farmed decided it was time. It was born to die and has had no other real purpose in life with the exception of bringing in more tasty children to also be killed. And I'm not even talking about intensive farming! This is the same all over! So I'm not going to mention the dire conditions the animals live in, nor the lack of care and the suffering that they are subjected to. To mention those things would just be unfair really.
Hunting keeps wild animal numbers down, especially those who do not have predators such as deer. Without hunting, those numbers would explode and lead them destroying their own habitat (which has happened in the UK)! Wild animals have a chance because it may or may not be the one getting shot. Many will survive and they will not all be killed but live full happy lives.
P.S. Been reading a lot of pro ban comments, many focusing on "how would you like it if you were shot?!" aspect. But to answer the question: I wouldn't. I would however prefer to be shot cleanly and die almost instantly than to be transported in terrible conditions (this includes free range farming), being lead to my death(of which I would know about, animal can sense these things), tased so I cannot move all the while panicking on the inside and be cut up from there.
TL;DR:
Hunting = more humane than farming.
If there was no hunting, the animals would overpopulate and would end up in the streets more often, getting killed by cars. Plus, the hunting injury rate is lower than football and bicycling accidents. Hunters argue that killing a deer is better than letting that deer starve to death. Also hunters say that hunting is a tradition, a ritual and a bonding experience.
Don't need the meat but enjoy it. Me and my sons keep our lease ready all year. Learn to shoot and handle many different types of firearms. Our freezer is stocked full every year with duck, dove, quail, venison and wild hog. You can't buy what we prefer to eat or would you ever want to give it up.
Hunting has been in animals' everyday life since the beginning of time. No matter what animals are programmed to hunt. These animals are going to die, and hunters help keep the population down, so that many more can live healthy and long lives instead of the whole population dying off because of disease. That should be the only argument hunters need but their are plenty more.
We must continue to harness the knowledge and techniques to provide for ourselves. Why do so many rely on the efforts of others. We can make the right choices; Eat local, Grow your own, Hunt and freeze. No need to complicate the basics. Less regulation, not more. Can't do it yourself? Then support those who can. Support the hunter and the farmer.
It mainly depends on the situation. Hunting animals for food or pelts like the 3rd world countries do should be allowed. But, I also believe that modern day hunting in established countries should also be allowed due to the amount of regulations on hunting: owning a hunting license, passing a course, regulations on when and what animal you can hunt.
Animals are just animals. We need the meat to survive. Meat tastes good and juicy. I don't see the point of not hunting them. They will keep making more animals for meat and we will help them make more meat and babies. Eating meat is good for us. It gives us protein.
Deer are a good food source for people and hunting is free. Some families enjoy hunting together.
Deer can become over populated and get caught in barb wire fences and electric gates, so hunting them will decrease suffering.
The chances are greater that deer will look for food in people's gardens and possibly attack them because they are starving. People have been hunting since the beginning of time so we should be allowed to continue.
Hunting is the best thing ever and puts food on the table and it gets youth hunters invoved and instead of on the streets smoking pot and its a awesome sport to get your friends together and to go have some fun out in the woods or the duck pond
To the person who said wed have nothing left... The billions hunters spend eve year is what funds wildlife preservation. That's a fact. Its in our own best interest to keep wildlife populations healthy. Your argument holds no water. And to the people who say its cruel to shoot animals. Well lets all eat farmed beef... Oh wait, cattle are raised in captivity in poor conditions to be slaughtered. That's cruel. And when a deer gets shot and dies without taking a single step, that is humane. Wild animals don't die peaceful deaths. When a deer gets old its teeth wear out to the point it cant eat enough, and it starts slowly starving from the winter, then in a weakened state it will be eaten alive by coyotes or some other predator. The only quick humane death a wild animal ever has is via hunting or getting hit really hard by a car. The most anti hunting people are people who live in concrete cities and don't know a damned thing about hunting or wildlife. Mind your own business.
All superior animals in the food chain EAT MEAT. Whether it be lions or crocodiles or humans, WE ALL EAT MEAT. The nutrients from it are good for you. No you can't argue that we can get these from pills because then we would be eating all this manufactured crap.
Whenever I go hunting, it is not to kill, it is to experience nature. Don't let hunting shows and videos fool you, it is actually pretty hard to shoot something and I often turn up empty handed. It can be a time for you to bond with someone else or it can be time for you to have fun alone and think. It is a very peaceful sport. I love hunting and I most certainly think it should not be banned. Besides hunting is much for humane than raising animals in farms. When you take a hunted animal's life it lived a good enjoyable life outside of captivity. Its purpose in life was not only to fill the belly of another animal but to live and procreate. When the only reason for an animal's existence is to be eaten the animal loses all its meaning.
At this point, population control is a big part of it. Lax hunting policies of the past 100 years has seen the elimination of local predator populations. Without the human predators, populations of things such as deer would balloon which would be bad for both the deer in that with limited food resources they would starve, and bad for humans in that more people would die from collisions with deer. If anything, considering the numbers of deer strikes in rural areas in recent years, population control permits (doe permits) should be granted in larger numbers. Bambi might be cute on television, but not when his face is smashed through your windshield or his dead body rotting in a ditch in the winter
Unless you are a vegetarian, which is a noble way to live, you have no right to say hunting is wrong. If you eat meat and do not get it from hunting than you are supporting a farming system that raises animals in cruel conditions that are totally foreign to they way they live in nature. If you hunt you instantly kill an animal that spent its life the way nature intended it to. Hunting is much more humane than buying meat at the supermarket.
Animal hunting should not be banned, because it is a low-cost way for people to find nourishment. I see gardening as the equivalent to this. A person can garden on his own land as a way to provide food for their family. In the same way, a person should be able to hunt on his/her land to provide meat. As long as the person is not hunting for endangered or threatened animals, I believe that hunting animals should remain legal.
I hunt to eat, if you try to ban hunting, you'll not only be destroying a rite of passage, a way of life, but you'll be killing me and my family, we rely on the deer and bear meat i bring in to bring us through the winter here in alaska.
I disagree with people that hunt and do not use the food. But killing an animal and using it up, that's perfectly fine by me. I believe that hunting is a MUCH more humane way to take an animal's life than the factory slaughterhouse. Have you seen some of the conditions in these slaughter houses? They're atrocious. While I still consume both slaughter house meat and meat from hunting, I do not see how somebody could condemn hunting if they support consuming meat. It's hypocritical. You cannot argue that hunting is inhumane and sick, when you sit there eating slaughter house meat, because many slaughterhouses are much more inhumane and sick. Hunting should not be banned.
Hunting and fishing alone generate about $1.8 billion dollars and provide plenty of jobs in small towns. Many outdoor businesses would go out of sale without it because hunters buy the majority of outdoor equipment. So is banning hunting worth making thousands of people lose their jobs? I mean how would you feel?
There is a movement promoted by animal rightists to ban hunting in the United States and around the world. These people believe that all animals are equal to people and, therefore, should not be hunted. These animal rightists profess that no animal should be used to benefit mankind under any circumstance, be it for food, medical research or companionship. They believe all animals, including pets, should live free of human interference.
There are places in the United States where the only meat served to family members is obtained through hunting. Two-thirds of the world's population went to bed hungry last night and, despite that statistic, there are those well-fed persons who believe that the rest of the world should be vegetarians and that all hunting should cease immediately.
More than two billion people suffer malnutrition and protein deficiency. Who are these people who believe all hunting should be illegal? Can anyone suggest or believe that families in the United states or around the world should be denied this valuable resource or the benefits we obtain from our relationship with animals?
The argument exists that, in this country, hunting is a sport and not a necessity. While this is true for much of our urban population, it is far from the truth for many of America's rural families. Our own government places millions of people on the poverty sector, many of these people hunt and fish out of necessity. Nationwide, most game shot is eaten.
To some, wildlife is a necessity for food. To others, animals are an enjoyed comfort, they are recreational, and they are a hedge against our own greed. Everyone can enjoy wildlife and their habitat, yet it is the hunters that pay the fees that protect the animals, reintroduce them to areas they were previously driven from, and prevent their extinction. If the early colonists had controlled hunting and had respect for the environment, passenger pigeons would exist today.
Recently, the Peregrine Falcon was virtually eliminated, and now it has made a dramatic comeback. This success story is due to people close to nature, not because of animal rightists! In fact, if we left the fate of the Peregrine Falcon and hundreds of other species, in the hands of those who believe mankind doesn't have dominionship of all animals, they would all go extinct. It is the pressure brought by sportsmen that protects our waterways, and it is the sportsmens' dollars, and activities that have returned wild turkeys to the East Coast, increased deer to pre-Revolutionary war levels and have allowed Canadian Geese to become a nuisance.
Hunting, and its automatic protection of the environment have forced a "green acres" or protection of the environment. To ban hunting is to say that wildlife have no value, and if left unprotected, more species will go extinct. It is the hunters and the appropriate agencies that demand clean air, clean water and protected areas for our animals and fish.
A ban on hunting would create its most severe devastation where animals live closest to man and where large predators do not live. In North America it would probably cause the worst damage wherever whitetail deer live because they are so prolific and usually central to the ecology of habitat. Without predators deer can literally eat themselves into oblivion. The environment would groan under their weight. Yes, certain infestations eat oaks, rot maples, or blight beeches. But those pests cannot ruin the health of an ecosystem as quickly as deer can. When stressed, deer eat almost everything – and without hunting, they would be very stressed. An out-of-control deer population inhibits regeneration of the plant species other animals need. Everything from trillium flowers to oak trees are affected, along with the animals that depend on them. Where too many deer live, habitat for every animal suffers. In a few short years an unchecked population of whitetail deer would cause more animal suffering than a hundred hunting seasons. They would devastate the forest and rob other animals of food and cover. Nearly every species that shares whitetail habitat from songbirds to Sasquatch (if he exists) would be subject to extreme, prolonged suffering far worse than anything hunters cause. More people would die too, as a result of more car collisions with deer. Wild pigs are another large species that has no predator but man. They are rapidly expanding their range, and their impact is even worse than that of whitetail deer. They literally plow the soil, destroying the eggs of ground nesting birds and virtually every plant and animal in their path. Man, as a predator, is capable of assessing the needs of his prey and planning his predation in ways that perpetuate stable, healthy prey populations.
It is simple ecology that when animals overpopulate an area, they will use up all of the resources, and space and will eventually die off. This happens to deer if hunters do not hunt them and control their population. There is a reason there are limits to how much a person can hunt per season, and it's for reasons of overpopulation.
Animal hunting should be regulated but not banned entirely. Many people hunt responsibly and use the animals they kill as food. This is a reliable and inexpensive food source for some people, and the government should not take it away from them. In addition, hunting can help control animal populations in areas populated by humans.
Hunting is a good way to interact with your kids, because it gives both the kid and their parent a chance to go out and shoot as a free citizen. We have the right to hunt and why abuse it by people are trying to take it away just because they never got the experience.
Each year hunters buy a licence, a percentage of which goes to wildlife preservation. Hunters make up most of the groups that raise funds for areas to study habit, find out what is best for keeping healthy populations of animals that are hunted for sport here in the U.S.
Lets be clear about one thing within every group there are people who take advantage of what we have, those so called hunters are despised and hated by most all legal hunters. I also am not the biggest fan of most of the hunting that goes on in Africa.
Here in Texas our deer population is higher in 2013 than it was in 1900. Just ask any homeowner who lives in areas that boarder deer habitat where large numbers of deer roam free but by law are untouchable. Many have to turn to drastic measures to thin out the population. Ranches all over Texas provide food and water for their deer, turkey, ducks, geese, quail and doves. Most of us follow rules and those that don't the local game warden gets a call.
Right now Texas wild turkey hunters are trying to reintroduce Eastern Turkeys in our Northeast counties. There is also a program that provides for the poor, Deer that have been harvested turned into deer processing businesses so the meat goes for a good cause.
Most animal rights groups just simply want to ban hunting, they say nothing about providing for the animals. If any of these groups would take a look at how much hunters and ranchers put back into keeping the populations healthy they might feel a little different. No I doubt they would change their minds on shooting animals because they feel its cruel or against some unwritten human law, but one thing is true, there have been hunters since man started and there have been people who survived because of it.
Check into habitat, thousands of acres set aside by individuals and groups for waterfowl and other types of animals. I don't heard of any of the anti hunting groups doing that. How about the ranchers here in Texas who brought back an African deer from near extinction only to have some anti hunter group get them taken away.
Hunting is also more than just shooting, I have come home most weekend with nothing but time in the outdoors, bonding with my children and time with friends, this plays a large part of what hunting is all about. We also eat what we kill, except if we are hunting feral hogs which, we do keep some but because of the millions of dollars in damage they cause (around 50 million a year in Texas ) we leave many for the local wildlife.
There will never be an agreement between hunters and anti hunters but I challenge those who are against the hunters to start putting up their monies and leave us to what we love to do.
Hunting should not be banned for many reasons. One, it is good for the population as it keeps it steady. Second, if you go the religious way, it says in the bible that God put animals on Earth for our use. Finally, banning hunting would make many people suffer because one, there are about 500,000 jobs depending upon hunting in the US; two, around $23 billion dollars are spent on hunting; and three, in some states, such as Alaska, over 50% of the population requires game meat for their protein.
Deer are beautiful creatures, and I personally refuse to eat them, just as I refuse to eat veal, lamb, and other meats from slaughtered infants. But for many families, especially families with low income, hunting is an economical way to put meat on the table. As long as people eat what they kill, I have no problem with others hunting, even if I don't allow people to hunt deer on my land.
The animal is better off living a free happy life until it is hunted than being raised in often terrible conditions on farms. I knew a vegetarian girl once who made an exception for venison because it was hunted. We need to reform cruel farming practices not pass a ban on hunting.
Growing up in North Dakota, I have hunted since the age of 5, as a boy scout we worked with game and fish to help wild life through tough winters, do game counts in the spring and help with predator control. Also having had 485,000 acres in Rhodesia, Africa for 17 years, any country without hunting had no game left. Conservation hunting and a fine game and fish department work.
A world without hunting is a dead world full of suffering. Humans have completely taken over every corner of the world due to human overpopulation. Because of this, wild animals habitats have been upset, throwing animal populations out of whack so badly in certain areas that wildlife management becomes a necessity. Without it certain species face major suffering or even extinction!
So you don't want people hunting animals? Well the only other option to save them is to start managing human population. But that would never happen. We are breeding out of control with no end in sight.
Hunting is a way of life it has been for millions of years. If animals aren't hunted they will overpopulate the cities and will spread diseases, they will be hit by cars. That's why there is specific seasons for hunting so the animals don't go extinct. For example if we hunt avid the animals will go extinct. But since we have laws you can only have a certain amount of tags in different parts of the states. And if you say hunting should be outlawed I hope you don't eat meat.
I hunt its fun and you get to eat the product - what's not to like? It also is a way of controlling pests and it has been rural tradition for hundreds of centuries. It is also a way of saving money as it brings meat to the table that you would otherwise have to buy thus allowing you to spend money on other things.
We are animals, we eat animals. But respect what we kill, eat what we kill, don't waste your kill and provide fair chase to your animals. Hunting is not for everyone in our modern age, but allow some of us a moment to experience the life of our ancestors and not depend only on the supermarket.
Hunting allows us to interface with nature at an ancient, almost mythic level. Securing ones own food, with ones own abilities, is a natural rush that must be experienced to be believed. Hunters are dedicated ecologists, environmentalists, and nature lovers, that actually put their beliefs into practice. Understanding the sometimes brutal truth of everyday existence brings, for many hunters, a clearer understanding of the universe and human's place in it.
God has put these animals here for us, not only to enjoy their beauty, but for our survival. Hunting is something that has been going on ever since the beginning of time. It's a heritage that gets passed down from generation to generation. It's not a privilege, it's our right.
