As a human we have liberty, which is freedom, choice etc. And also animals has the right to live, and the right to choose. But is it right to take the freedom or the life of animals just because we want to research? NO. It's not right to kill and make them suffer for us. Animals have emotions. They have thoughts, ideas, feelings. They also suffer. If we just kill and make them suffer, we are taking the freedom and the life of other animals. To protect the animal's liberty and life we should ban animal testing.
Animals are just like us: they breath, eat, sleep, give birth to young and feed there Young's (mammals) should they not be treated like us? Of course! It also makes me wrathful to see those adorable creatures suffer. Animals have feelings and have to be respected, not only that but some of us are carnivore, this means animals that feed on flesh.
Do we eat dog food? No, so if medicine were to be tested, it may have different effects. For example if an animal had been tested, it might feel perfectly normal but if it was you, it will have a different outcome. And if you are in need of those medicine. LET IT BE TESTED ON YOU! So live those innocent animal in peace.
Animals are a soft target for human beings; it is however, not fair to take undue advantage of their helplessness. It should be understood that a monkey or a mouse would experience the same amount of pain that human beings would do, on being made to undergo certain painful procedures. Animals used for testing are often deprived of food, water and sleep. In many cases they are treated cruelly. For example, dogs are locked in gas chambers to test whether a particular insecticide is safe for inhalation by human beings. Most often, anesthesia is not used at the time of testing. A callous attitude towards the safety of animals is one of the main reasons for not using anesthesia when experimenting on animals. Another reason for avoiding the use of anesthesia is the claim that test results get altered on doing so. However, just imagine that you are being operated on without anesthesia or jammed in a cell just because someone else wants to know how your body reacts to that particular environment.
We are killing these poor animals, what did they do to us? I mean really? This is to the girls out there, is it really worth blinding a monkey to have a new mascara? During the research process animals are killed and harmed, isn't killing an animal the same thing as murder? If you are thinking what if there was a "deadly" disease out there and that a doctor thought they found a cure to it but they need to test it before putting it on the market and they should test it on an animal. Well I don't get your point? An animal has the same feelings, rights, etc as a human should have. And besides if the animal was in a unusual environment they might feel scared and stressed out so if you were to test the animal the results will not be accurate. And some people believe that us humans and animals have different ways of reacting to things, animals might be resistant to a product that may kill us. You don't know. So is taking and suffering an animals life necessary and ethical. This is not an essay forcing you to believe anything I say, actually I encourage you not to listen to me. You should go research this topic and you decide whether or not animal testing should be banned or not.
Isn't it just too cruel to watch an animal, another life force, organism, die right in front of your eyes? Everyone has a right to live, and yes, they are just as much the same as humans. Imaging if another superior life force were using humans to test our planet just like we do for science. Horrible, isn't it. So therefore, animal testing should definitely be banned!
How would you like to be that innocent little animal trapped in a cold concrete cage for days, even weeks on end? Imagine if that poor rabbit, cat, or dog was your pet. Or imagine that animal was your baby. Would you want a tiny child to be shocked and tortured? No. I'm sure you'd want to stop those scientists. Once you have read these messages from others like me, I hope you'll be against animal testing!
So its not fair to take undue advantage of their helplessness. A callous attitude towards the safety of animals is one of the main reasons for not using anaesthesia when experimenting on animals. Another reason for avoiding the use of anaesthesia is the claim that test results get altered on doing so. However, just imagine that you are being operated on without anaesthesia or jammed in a cell just because someone else wants to know how your body reacts to that particular environment.
It is not right to use innocent animals as guinea pigs for dangerous tests that have really harmful effects on them if not kill them outright in some cases. There has to be a better way to test things than using animals. At the very least they should only be testing things where their physical well being will not be harmed in the process. That I might be ok with, but in general yes I think animal testing should be banned.
Humans and animals are not the same genetically, and just because an animal was or was not in some way effected by the product, that does not mean it will or will not effect humans. The testing would be unreliable.
Most people are against animal testing and if made aware of, are most likely to opt NOT to purchase a product that is. Therefore, any product that allows animal testing, I would assume stands to lose a substantial loss in sales for that reason alone. So the fact those sales for the product will negatively suffer because most consumers are against this. So why bother putting a product on the market knowing that it might drag you into the red.
"The pain caused by animal laboratory tests outweighs any benefit humanity might get out of the results, because the results are often unreliable or not applicable to humans."
Another main point you might suggest is that there are reasonable, more humane alternatives in many cases. What the alternatives are will depend upon what is being tested, like if it's medicine or cosmetics. I heard once that drain cleaner was tested on rabbits' eyes to see what would happen. I mean, Jesus. How about you just put a warning label on the bottle that says: “This isn't a big bottle of eye drops. It's a strong base that can dissolve body parts. Don't put this on your eyes."
Limiting testing on animals can be proven to be helpful for humans. This would eliminate cruel and unreliable testing. It might be possible to develop computer models which might yield data every bit as useful and beneficial as animal testing, but the reliability might have to be verified by some animal testing to be proven valid. Or human DNA could be mixed with the chemical to see the reaction. There is also the option of using human testing, which would have to be limited to things that are moral and ethical. Similar criteria might well be applied to animal testing. Although it might be more expensive to use human DNA, it is better than the other option of annihilating one species for the benefit of another.
Animals and humans react differently to different substances. For example dogs can die if they eat chocolate, but we eat it all the time.
The animals are sometimes reused, which affects the outcome of the test. The reactions from both products may combine to become harmful, which gives a false reading. Animals often become traumatized after animal testing if the survive. They become more aggressive and are more likely to attack humans after. If they were treated with something harmful to humans, it can get dangerous.
50-100 million animals are suffering pain or death so we can have make-up or cream and that is cruel. So we need to speak up for the animals and save them for what is happening. Imagine if this was you and every day someone would put this cream and make-up all over your body just so someone can look good.
Do you really want a poor innocent animal that has been smuggled to be tortured, cut open many times, then sewn back together just so your blush would fit your skin tone? Looking good is important, especially for women and young adults. However, we can test the cosmetics or any other medicine on something else. We can do this without killing poor, innocent animals. And not just cosmetic testing... If there was a medicine to be tested upon, you can always test it upon a dead person who has donated their body for scientific research. The body may not work as well as animals (I admit) but it is so much better than killing or torturing animals.
It can kill animals and animals have as much right to live as us! There is no reason to endanger animals! Animal testing does need to be banned! For ever! Animals should have as much right as humans and not be tested on. STOP ANIMAL TESTING! Animals are pets not testers!
Animals don't have a say in what is going on with their bodies. It is only right and just to leave them be. Humans should be tested with human medicine IF they give consent. Animals do not have this luxury and that doesn't mean they should be forced to be tested on.
• An embryonic stem cell test, using mouse-derived cells to assess potential toxicity to developing embryos, has been validated as a partial replacement for birth-defect testing in rats and rabbits.(9)
• The 3T3 Neutral Red Uptake Phototoxicity Test uses cells grown in culture to assess the potential for sunlight-induced (“photo”) irritation to the skin.
• Human skin model tests are now in use, including the validated EpiDerm™ test, which has been accepted almost universally as a total replacement for skin corrosion studies in rabbits.(10)
• The use of human skin leftover from surgical procedures or donated cadavers can be used to measure the rate at which a chemical is able to penetrate the skin.
• Microdosing can provide information on the safety of an experimental drug and how it is metabolized in the body by administering an extremely small one-time dose that is well below the threshold necessary for any potential pharmacologic effect to take place
If it's not so bad, why aren't humans tested first? Animals can't say no, and humans use this to their advantage. No animal should be shoved in a cage, forced to undergo tests, or die due to a lethal injection. Who gave humans the right to take away another's? Animal's lives are just as important as human's.
Imagine if you were locked up in a cage, petrified of what will happen to you. This is exactly what animals would experience. It is just detrimentally cruel and harsh! It's not fair for such poor, innocent creatures because it makes them feel like they are in hell! Only a brainless imbecile would do such a thing. Will anyone please stand up for these hopeless animals?
It's terrible and needs to be stopped. It doesn't even work, and under 2% of the "medical" tests don't even have to do with humans. They don't happen to both humans and animals, only 1.6% of the time they do. There is nothing to do with it so it obviously is just torture.
Animal testing is wrong. The animals that they use are like us so that the scientists can have the most accurate result, so why should we be doing this to our closest relatives? They are a free species! What makes them any different from us? What gives us the right to hurt and destroy them, put things in their heads and then kill them? It is not fair and it makes me sick!
It's too cruel to begin with. Also, 92% of the time the test fails and the animals die, suffering, in 3 weeks. Some people just do it for self-pleasure. What heartless idiot does that ! They should be ashamed of themselves and go to a mental hospital. Animals need to be saved and seriously need people to agree, it's worth it ! Imagine how they would feel, and stop the cruelty. It's cruel and you know it. Honestly, you need to stick this in your head and know it MUST be banned. It is uncalled for, and they do NOT deserve it ! Do you know what they go through? Locked up, shocked, tortured, starved, killed, and so on?! How would you like that !?!?!??!?! Exactly, you wouldn't and you know it. Now stop the cruelty. NEVER LET ANIMAL TESTING BE ACCEPTABLE IF YOU HAVE A HEART, OR JUST NEVER LET IT HAPPEN EVEN IF YOU DON'T HAVE A HEART!
The opponents proclaim that the main reason is to earn profit at the expense of animals, and avoiding lawsuits from unsatisfied consumers.
Most of the time, these are used in the research of the diseases that are not found in them naturally, such as different type of cancers to which humans falls prey or HIV.
Animal rights activists believe that animals have as an equal rights to life as that of human beings, and they are especially against testing in cosmetic industries.
They also propose that alternatives such as chemical assay tests, tissues, cell and organ culture systems, cloned human skin cells and patches, computer and mathematical models be employed, which they think, will produce the same results as that of animal testing.

How would you like it if we ripped you open? It is killing, drugging, torturing these poor animals. We are always trying to find new ways to do things, but killing living animals over and over and over again, is torture and is just wrong. We need to put an end to it.
Animal testing should defiantly be banned totally it us very cruel to do animal testing on them and they disderse to have a normal life just like us humans do and to be protected by Animal killers and should be given sanctuary to all animals I hope they are banned
They are living things, too. They should not have to suffer all the testing and die for no damn reason. Animals are kind, loving animals that don't harm anybody and they shouldn't have to be tested and have to die just because they wanted to test something new. I honestly don't think its right.
It is unfair because animals might change and get diseases instead of preventing diseases. It also might make a new disease and it might spread rapidly. Plus it also might create a new dangerous species of animals that will kill people. It might also simply kill the animal. That is why I think it is bad.
Animal testing should be banned. Companies should not be allowed to use chemicals in their products that can harm anyone, human or animal, so the fact they put harmful things in products for us all to use is shameful to begin with. They burn and cut open these animals, douse them with harsh chemicals, drip chemicals in their eyes, and do not give them proper medical care. We have many jails full of people who could be used for this kind of testing, people who have hurt and killed innocent people. I believe they should be used, because an innocent animal does not deserve lye dropped into its eye because they want to put it in your lipstick.
Animals are innocent.
87% of us are carnivore or omnivore. This is really cruel. Because not only animals are being tested on but are being hunted. We may not understand what animals talk about but they have feelings and they also can feel pain. This has to stop! But when will it?
No arguments are needed. Try being in their position for a day. You'll know how painful and scary it is. You will also know the answer to this debate and agree with us. If you still do not agree that animal testing should be banned, you are one terrible, heartless human being.
Animal testing should be stopped for so many reasons. One is because the results are inaccurate, there is a 5-25% chance of creating a cure that works for both animals and people. Mice have a cure for cancer but humans don't have anything that will work for sure. People are always tested anyway after animal trials. A lot of animals are tested for things that people don't even need, like makeup. There are cheaper and less cruel methods to test medicine without hurting animals or people, like microdosing or artificial skin.
Animal testing is so mean and cruel. It isn't even humane, why don't you test on child molesters and rapists in prison? They deserve to die way more than harmless animals do. Animals and humans have different reactions to different things. Everyone who tests on animals needs to rot in hell.
Animals haven't done anything to hurt humans, so why should we hurt them? Scientists already know a vast majority of chemicals that harm people and animals. There is no need for animal testing anymore. I agree with another person on this post--there are plenty of humans in jail who can serve as guinea pigs. What's wrong with paying someone $500 to test a chemical reaction? There's also nothing wrong with not having high-end makeup and personal care products. America is already healthy enough as it is. It's time to end brutality towards animals.
We are the one that want the product
why do we have to let the animals test it
we should love the animals not hate them by killing them for just a product
if you were a animal would you let people test it on you
would you be okay?
More than 100 million animals are being abused and killed each year in United States laboratories. Innocent animals are being experimented on for our own greed and convenience. It is immoral and it is against their right as a living being. Anything that lives and breathes like us should have the same right as us.
I'm a HUGE animal lover. I would adopt every animal in the shelter if I had the money and space for them all and enough for their food; toys and vet bills. Animal testing is wrong. Humans don't have the same reaction to drugs and make up that humans do, would you like it if your animal was used for animal testing?
Animal testing most definately should be banned for a myriad of reasons. I understand that animals are often used in trivial experiments, such as for hair care products, or even biopsies. This should not be done because many animal experiments have been done so often and by so many people that there is no longer any need to do so. It kills and maims thousands of animals each year with no visible purpose. These creatures do not volunteer for this grisly process, but instead are forced into it, or even created for the sole purpose of suffering. We need to end this barbaric behavior now.
It is cruel to test on animals because it hurts. They have a 92% chance of dying, are helpless, and need to survive. From mouse to ape to elephant, they all need to be protected once and for all! I think that everybody should say yes to freedom and no to animal cruelty. It is unfair to animals and it's unfair to me! Millions of animals die each year because of this! So please, say no to animal testing, and if we work together, we can stop animal testing!
I absolutely love animals and feel that animal testing is horrible, however it has also given us huge medical advances that we would have never came upon without animal testing. I don't know if anyone would volunteer their baby for the new rounds of testing but someone has to be tested before the public. If not animals, then who?
Although animal lovers may think the opposite, I think it is perfectly fine for animal testing. Imagine, we all have this unknown disease spreading around killing thousands and thousands. We all have no cure. But one day a scientist invented this medicine that may kill the bacteria in your body. What if the medicine was too strong and could damage some of our internal organs without ourselves knowing. The doctors would have to see if the medicine had an effect on the disease but ends up killing many others. We can't blame the doctors but instead shouldn't we blame those who banned animal testing? If they allowed animal testing to be done, many wouldn't have lost their lives. Wouldn't it be worse if we kill more humans than to test it on only 1 animal? Wouldn't it be better, to lose one animal instead of a kin? So my point is, animal testing should not be banned
Would you rather lose your loved one or an animal? I would rather lose an animal that is not endangered. Animals breed faster than humans. Human life should be preserved. Animals can have babies a lot quicker than human beings. Animals are more easily found than humans so therefore humans should not be used for drug testing.
Animal testing helps in finding ways to help save lives of animals and humans by testing lifesaving drugs and processes. A few animals tend to react the same way like humans in response to certain diseases and allergies. This helps the scientists find a cure for certain diseases by studying these animals. Open heart surgeries, coronary bypass surgery and heart transplantation are some of the procedures that came into existence by carrying out experimentation on dogs. Insulin for diabetes, lifesaving antibiotics, etc. Have been made by experimenting on animals. Contagious diseases like smallpox, measles, chickenpox, rubella, polio, rabies, mumps, etc. were brought into control due to vaccines made by carrying out experiments on animals.
The fact of the matter is, animal testing provides us which huge medical advantages- and saves millions of lives. Whenever there are examples of human beings dying in medical experiments, the outcry is enormous- and let's face it, this only happens when drug trials go straight from computer to people. Not to mention the fact that most animals who are used in animal testing were bred specifically for this purpose, and wouldn't be alive at all if not for animal testing. And the fact that the conditions in which animals used in animal testing facilities are far more humane than those used for animals in food production- if you eat meat, then you should be in favour of animal testing. Just because sometimes the animals used are fluffy doesn't mean it is any worse that what we as a society do to farm animals, and I refuse to believe that 86% of this site are vegetarians.
We rely on animal testing to help us learn more on how the body works and to test if medical drugs and treatments are safe to use on humans without it thousands of people would suffer. It is important to find cures for the illnesses and diseases which human beings suffer.
Even though I think animal testing is cruel, the fact is, you probably wouldn't be alive either without the testing. Everyone has probably taken some form of medicine, and without it, we all probably wouldn't be here. I think animal testing is bad, trust me, but people are too stubborn to test it for themselves, and lets face it, it's just too darn important.
