Should animals be banned from circus performances?

  • Animals are treated horribly in entertainment in general.

I don't support any wild animals in entertainment. Most circuses treat the animals horribly and deprive them of anything natural to them. Admire animals in the wild being who they are and not forced in to doing dumb tricks to entertain young, spoiled children. It's also very dangerous for people working for an animal like a lion or tiger and there have been deaths!

  • This is slavery!

Just because we are smarter than most animals does not mean that we should not treat them with respect, this is one of the cruelest things we do to animals, right up there with killing endangered species. And have you noticed that more people say yes than no? Those animals should be wild, free the animals!

  • Animals should be banned from circuses

This is because the owners of the animals use them for money. The bad thing about this is that if the animals don't do what they are supposed to do the owners might mistreat them. Also it just seems so unfair to do something that you don't want to just so that someone else can be paid.

  • Yes, they should be banned.

Animals should be banned from circuses and entertainment parks or what ever is keeping them from roaming free. They are abused and mistreated and kept in small cages & basins and all for the sake of money. This is 2016, it's about time to make a change. And those who actualy think these animals are treated nicely, just google and watch the vids, they will proof you wrong.

  • Cruel to animals

Animals in circuses are abused and mutilated in order to preform dangerous tricks. The animals spend up to 94 precent of their lives crammed up in cages and the other 6 precent being abused and forced to preform. What people don't realize is that the animals don't want to preform they are forced to with bullhooks and whips

  • Paying to Watch Cruelty

Personally, I would never go to a circus that had animal performances, because you are basically paying to watch live cruelty towards animals! You sit in a seat for a few hours watching a bunch of unethical people purposely hurt harmless animals. I think that there should be a ban placed on these kind of activities.

  • They should be banned!!!

Animals in the circus should be banned. Yes it might be good entertainment, but is it good entertainment to sit and watch an animal getting whipped and caged? So many animals every year are taken from their parents to perform in circuses. Should it be happening? I don't think so!

  • Crammed into cages

Some wild animals in circuses spend 6-8 months a year crammed into cages which have to be small enough to transport by road to a new venue each week. You can't let a lion out into a field. As for training, look at the convictions of circus trainers for cruelty to a chimpanzee and an elephant eg http://www.ad-international.org/media_centre/go.php?id=1446&si=12 or the conviction of a circus owner over the beating of an elephant http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-20471217 Why ignore the facts

  • Lets look at this reasonably...

Animals in circus are treated with the same (if not more) respect as any privately owned animal. In order to perform calmly in front of large audiences, they need to have a trusting relationship with their handler otherwise the animal simply will not perform. Animals in the circus lead enriched lives - by putting cues to behaviours that the come by naturally, the animals are learning. As a species who value education so highly, why is it so hard for humans to imagine that learning benefits animals? The more they learn, the greater the brain stimulation and the more they want to learn. Animals are not beaten and whipped to learn their tricks - that is not an ideal learning environment for any creature, let alone for animals whose response to aggression is fight or flight. If nothing else, Skinner's study of Behaviourism demonstrates that animals learn best by use of positive reinforcement - a treat when a desired behaviour is shown and no response from the trainer when alternative behaviours are offered. This is how animals are trained. Imagine, if an animal was whipped and beaten, would they then willingly perform? We know animals have either a fight or flight response to unpleasant stimuli - it does not stand to reason that an animal will perform or learn if only exposed to abusive treatment.
Circus animals are constantly in the public eye, and it is in the best interest of their owners to keep them in good condition. Yes, they may need to travel from town to town, but how is that different from a horse being shipped all over the country for horse shows or race events? The paddocks they are turned out in may be a different shape from one town to the next, but everything else is the same, down to the very water bucket they drink from.

  • Animals Deserve Proper Care

I do not believe there is any reason to ban animals from circus performances. Circuses provide entertainment in the same manner they have for years and similar to older practices as well. The animals deserve proper care, but as long as that is provided, I do not see what the hard to the animal is.

  • Never ever ever!

Their are certain circuses that treat their animals very very nicely! And the animals are sooooo cuuttteee!!!! And the fact that the circuses that I got to are very nice too their animals makes it so much better! You should never take out animals ever!! Their soooo cute and very well trained

  • They should not be banned

There are lots of people who depend on circus animals performance to earn their livelihood .And the animals are treated properly and there are laws to ensure their wellbeing in most countries . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

  • Nuts are delicious

Deez nuts yum yum!!!!!!! I love to lick nuts and suck dick!!!!!!!

  • Animals are for domination

We are the top animal so I think its OK to use the anyway we like. I whip horses when I train them so why shouldn't circus trainers whip their animals too? We eat animals, beat them, brand them, cut off their balls, used them for experiments, we've even circumcised dogs so what's different about circuses?

  • Animals are not clowns

Why animals work in circuses they are clowns why we take their freedom The home of animals is forests not the circus cages If animals attacked at the time of circus so, who is responsible for them

  • Circuses banning wild animals

No because the animals are treated nicely and are not abused they are not scheduled to do the tricks they do them when they want to. Th trainers treat them nicely and give them rewards when they successfully do they're tricks. They are very well treated to be nice animals.
