  • Yes it should

Personally, when pupils are in an art class at school, they find that they would rather be anywhere than in that class. All of their friends say that they want to quit art because it is so much pressure and they are losing their passion for art. I understand that some people discover themselves in art but it seems like a waste of time and money if you ask me. But it may be a waste of money but If you go round the schools asking all of the students to vote for art or to ignore art out of 100, 95% of them would be want art to be in schools and that other 5% would want art to be ignored. You should keep art for the pupils otherwise you would want them to be bored and not to them to get the job that they are capable of. Most students pick art not because they enjoy some might even hate it bit they choose art because it calms them down, it is quiet. They sometimes do it for fun.

  • Don't cut it, but change it

Art class in school may be beneficial, but it needs to make creativity an option. Look at paper mache, for example. People don't make real money out of it. But things like drawings and digital design will help the students learn, be useful, but still give them room to be creative. The program should change. Now, in the modern age, we use digital media. Art in schools should get tablets for that, and give students the opportunity to grow in that area and have more experience and knowledge to use later in life.

  • Creativity is not learned

Art classes in school are not necessary . Any child can pick up chalk and draw during his or her free time. Why should the tax payers pay in towards a course that is also abstract? Art classes are not graded on a right or wrong basis. Art is something that is admired and judged by each individual abstractly. School is a time to teach young minds about English, Math and Science. Any person with a spray paint can, could be called an artist but few can be called Doctors or Scholars. If people want to nurture the talent of a young person it can be done just as easy if not better outside the confines of a school.

  • I believe that art should neither be cut nor mandatory.

Art classes in schools should be OPTIONAL because there are some kids out there who need stress relief and need to draw something, but there are also kids that this is having absolutely no affect on and they would rather be finishing up their algebra homework. If these classes were made optional, it would improve grades a lot by giving children an oppritunity to get work done (instead of scribbling and thinking about the work that needs to be done.) TAKE MY WORD FOR IT... I'M A FORMER CHILD MYSELF.

  • We should be teaching students real classes

The fact that a college would require that a student would have to indure an art class is wrong. Mainly because a lot of people don't like to draw and aren't very good. Schools require this class because "it teaches creativity" but they don't it comes to be a waste of time for most students and comes to be a class many students just want to get by and never have to see again.

  • Keeps us creative

It helps keep us creative while still in school, before having to go into life bored it helps in making us unique and not boring like others . It makes us { well at least me } feel good to create something similar but unique to everyone else and feels good to do it yourself.

  • Art classes are important!

Kids need to be creative in life, not just when they're young. When they get classes taken away that would fuel that creativity, they can't think as outside of the box as they would otherwise. Art, and music, help children focus, relax, and think freely. It also helps their testing scores. A child who plays an instrument throughout their school years is more likely to get scholarships to a good college than a child that doesn't. Some children are naturally creative, and they might have wanted to be an artist, but if that class was cut, they wouldn't have access to that part of themselves.

  • I think kid should learn the meaning of art.

When i was a kid i went to art class because i had no things to do and i learned that i like it so did more and more art classes because i learned that it was not so bad. Then i thought that it was helping me find my com side and it was good because i was mad a lot of the time. When i stopped i got mad. Then i was happy when i was doing art again. Don't get rid of art it make some kids com and some not confused or confused and that is ok. So please don't get rid of art please.

  • Art has many benefits, it should not be taken away from schools. This only limits the opportunity in life for a child.

Art classes should not be cut for many reasons but the most important are that are class can actually give many skills to children that are needed in the world we live in today, and art is a good way for students to express themselves during school and outside of school too. Skills such as knowing how to learn from your mistakes, and having constructive criticism to your peers and yourself in life are just two simple life skills that are often taught in art, not just how to draw and what the primary and secondary colors are. Secondly, many students like art and it is an easy and even fun way to express themselves. I myself love art and feel that any child or adult should have the option to experience art and make their own decision if it is right for them or not.

  • Art should not be cut!!!

Art is defined as the expression of human creative skill and imagination, producing works primarily for their beauty and emotional power. People are beginning to question the significance of the education of art in schools. But art is a key factor in schools that all students should have the opportunity to be taught. I believe it is important to have art in schools because it is therapeutic, it improves skills in other subjects, and it boosts creativity.
Art is very therapeutic. Art is a huge stress reliever, and high school students need something to relieve their stress for tests, exams, and writing essays. Sommer Wadman states, “...The creative arts are not only a great way to create something beautiful, but also a fun and inspiring way to relieve stress and enhance creativity,” (Source 1). In addition to being a stress reliever, art class also allows students to express themselves in a positive way. Students can express themselves through art instead of other ways that can be harmful to themselves and other people.
While art is beneficial in regards to being therapeutic, it is also beneficial because it can help improve skills in other subjects. According to the Arts Education Partnership, “...School children exposed to drama, music, and dance are often more proficient at reading, writing, and math,” (Source 2). Also, another study showed that schools that offer more classes with the arts had higher graduation rates, and better attendance records.
Besides improving skills in other subjects, art boosts people’s creativity. Creativity is a very crucial for a child’s future. It can help their problem solving abilities and help with their future. The article “Benefits of Arts to Kids” declares that there is a, “...Very strong correlation between childhood engagement in the creative arts and measurable success later in life,” (Source 3). By practicing creativity daily in art class, students can increase their creativity, and thus be more successful in the future.
In conclusion, art boosts creativity, it improves skills in other subjects, and it is therapeutic, therefore it is very important to have in schools. People should stop doubting the value of art class, because there are countless reasons as to why students should have it. I don’t see how people believe that it shouldn't’t be taught in schools. Isn’t it enough that art is an incredible entity that displays beauty and emotional power through the use of human creative skill and imagination?
