Should children be introduced to moderate amounts of alcohol by their parents at an early age?

  • Wine drinking is a tradition that includes children in many countries.

In many countries, it is common for children as well as adult to enjoy wine with one or more meals. Unlike in the United States, in which all forms of alcohol are considered vice, a lot of cultures recognize the health benefits of small amounts of wine, in particular, red wine. In this context, introducing children to alcohol in small amounts from an early age can actually develop healthy drinking habits by putting its usefulness into context.

  • Most parents do that already.

Usually in response to the kid's request, which is usually followed by a grimacing face, since kids are appalled by the taste of alcohol. I suppose a sip of two, from time to time, is alright, after all kids eat so much junk food that's really bad for their health. Better of course not to.

  • Most of them already are, and have so since the beginning of time

Alcohol is not for children, but many parents will sometimes let their kids have a sip, usually in response to the kid's request, which is usually followed by a grimacing face of disgust, since alcohol tastes like garbage to kids. I suppose its alright from time to time, after all kids eat so much junk food that's bad for them, but better not to.

  • Leads To Alcoholism

There are people in the medical profession that see adults with alcohol problems who were introduced by their parents to alcohol. As a parent, I find it unusual that other parents might want to introduce small amounts of alcohol to their child at an early age. Do these same people desire to create alcoholics or are they trying to debunk the myth via their own children?

  • Children should not be introduced to moderate amounts of alcohol by their parents at an early age.

Children should not be allowed to drink alcohol because it is bad for their health. Even small amounts can be dangerous because kids have such small body weights. Parents especially should not give this dangerous substance to their own children. People should have to wait until they are responsible adults to drink alcohol.

  • Children should not be introduced to moderate amounts of alcohol by their parents at an early age.

Children should not be introduced to moderate amounts of alcohol by their parents at an early age. This is just wrong and I think that children should wait until they are 21 to take their first drink of alcohol. There is no reason for any parent to be giving their children alcohol.

  • No, they are not old enough for their bodies to handle it.

No, children should not be introduced to moderate amounts of alcohol by their parents at an early age, because children's bodies cannot handle alcohol appropriately. Children who begin drinking at a young age are much more likely to become addicted to alcohol later in life. Children believe drinking is acceptable behavior and they are more likely to drink at a young age or abuse alcohol as adults.
