Should children be used in advertising: Is it okay to use children in advertising if they agree to it?

  • No,some advertisements lead to bad parenting

    • Children naturally like foods that are rich in fats, proteins and sugar. They give them the energy they need to play energetically and grow healthily. It is true that eating only such foods is bad for people, but this is again a problem of bad parenting rather than the fault of advertising. And of course, if advertising to children were banned, then governments would not be able to use this means of promoting healthy eating, road safety, hygiene, and other socially useful messages.

  • Parents Should Be Involved

It is okay to use children in advertising as long as the parents are involved. It's common in this current media age. Also, this is how a lot of actors get an early start to an acting career. They start off in commercials, get cast onto television, and grow up into adult acting.

  • Yes, children can agree.

One could argue that a child is not capable of agreeing to anything (hence them not being able to be legal parties to a contract), but as long as their parents are looking out for them and there is no unfair practice happening, I don't see how children in advertisements is harmful.
