Should college athletes be exempted from class-attendance policies?

  • College athletes should be exempt from class

College athletes should be exempt from class because if they have like a really big game and dont get back to their dorm room or on campus until late/early in the morning and they have early classes then they dont have to worry about going to sleep at 4 am and waking up at 7 am so they can be to class by eight.
Alright you may think im a college student/athlete but I am actually in middle school and i can tell this story because it happens to me almost every night . But i wake up at 5 to be to school at 7

  • They should be exempted from class-attendance

When someone want to pursue a career as an athlete, they should be given complete freedom from any kind of tension of studies or any other responsibility so they can give their best on the field. Human body is just not made for sitting, it has been made for running 20 miles a day. Just sitting can make you fat and and major reason for too much diseases which are spreading today is because we are not getting enough exercise.

  • Should exempted from class-attendance

Today sports is also a career. They people are professionals . Sports are as important as study for any students. Athletes represent their college at national level. I believe the athlete are future of country. These athletes flourish their country's name at world level. So we make restrictions on these athletes, it will really hard for them to do practice hard and perform with positive results.

  • Why should they?

The primary point of college is to further educate yourself in a major of your choice so that you may get a degree for the working world. Yes, you get scholarships for being an amazing athlete, but it is your responsibility as an athlete to manage both college sports and your classwork and class attendance. The sport is just how you're paying for your classes, just like students whom received merit scholarships are using their mental and thinking abilities to pay for their classes.

  • All students should be held to the same standards

No, I do not believe that athletes should be exempted form class attendance policies. All students should be held to the same standards regardless if they play sports or not. It would not be fair for to those students that do not participate in sports be held to stricter policies while their athlete counter parts are running free. College, in the end is for class and learning, sports in an extracurricular activity and should be be treated as such.

  • College athletes should not be exempted from class-attendance policies.

College athletes should not be exempted from class-attendance policies. They should be held accountable for their education just like everyone else. It sets a bad example for the school when the athlete is doing great on the field but is doing poorly in the class off the field. I think they should have to go to class.

  • They are students first.

No, college athletes should not be exempted from class-attendance policies, because they are earning the same degrees that everyone else, and they need to be held to the same standards. It does no good to a college athlete to allow them to graduate without having learned anything. They need an education because they are people too.

  • Most athletes are not going to make it to the Pros.

Therefore, their education will be important to them in the future for their careers. They will only get as much out of their education as they put into it. Unfortunately, many of them think they are pro material so it's important that we make sure they attend their classes like everyone else, even if they think they are extra special and shouldn't have to. It's actually better for them in the long run.

  • College athletes should not be exempted from class-attendance policies.

College athletes should not be exempted from class-attendance policies. They should actually be held more accountable and set an example for the colleges. If we allow them to miss class and fail at classes then we are sending the wrong message about our college systems. I think they should be required to keep good grades.

  • College Athletics Come Second

I do not believe college athletes should be exempted from class-attendance policies. Athletics should come second at colleges. Students are enrolled, primarily for their studies, that is the purpose of the school and the only reason a student should really be attending the school. Athletic teams should not be built from people who are not seeking degrees, they should be part of the normal student population.
