  • Fraternities are dangerous. It's time out

They should be banned because there are to many innocent lives dying. The only fraternity that should be going is everyone making positive things out of their lives and letting God lead them in the direction they should go, And helping our world become a better place for everyone as well.

  • Both Fraternities and Sororities should be banned

These groups are harmful to students in many ways. For example, students have to spend hours doing social activities, instead of studying to have a place to stay. The students in these places are mostly dumb popular people. My parents were immigrants for India, who got accepted into Carnegie Mellon. My mother tutored football players, and various other students. Some students from a sorority were dumber than me (I am only in Middle school), wore lots of expensive clothes, and thought that you get credit for walking in the door. Also, the emphasis on socializing adds parties, drugs, and alcohol. This leads to accidents and sexual assault.

  • Title IX, how they get away with it

Fraternities are known to be houses that break the law, brothers serve alcohol to members and non members who want free alcohol at any age, the promote sexy costumes at their parties and invite as many women as possible so that their brothers have a variety of women to prey on through the night. Sexual assaults. Accidents. Alcohol poisoning, no supervision, death. All of these would be prevented without frats. Title IX is supposed to be followed by all colleges who get financial aid for their students. The terms of that are to protect the students from a hostile environment, and just because it is not on campus, the college is liable and SHOULD be liable for what happens within organizations they support such as Frats! Title IX says to eliminate things that could be potential problems and threats to students especially for sexual assault. Frats apply! BAN THEM.

  • Fraternities are dangerous and unhealthy!

Fraternities are dangerous to students, members and non-members alike. Every year a few poor kids get the worst of some pledge task, and end up hospitalized or worse. Women are often targeted by fraternity brothers, and frats will often lie or cover up information during an investigation to protect their members.

  • Too many deaths.

Yes, colleges should ban fraternities, because there have been far too many deaths because of drinking and hazing in recent years. As many times as the fraternities tell the students to stop, they still do it. Since they will not listen and young men continue to die, they should stop completely.

  • Yes, they should.

Fraternity brothers are some of the biggest losers in the world. They are all spoiled rich kids who are able to avoid real consequences due to their parents money. Most young adults go to college to get an education and prepare for the future. Fraternity brothers go to college to commit crimes.

  • Yes They Should

I believe colleges would benefit if they banned fraternities. The practices and reasons for having a fraternity are archaic and they do nothing to improve today's society. These organizations often create havoc on and off campus and that should not be tolerated. I think these organizations have prestige for all of the wrong reasons.

  • Yes, colleges should ban fraternities.

Fraternities are social organizations that provide housing, community service and socialization for college students. Fraternities also are the setting for numerous physical injuries, sexual assaults and hazing incidents. By allowing fraternities on campus while having no direct control over these independent social organizations, colleges are promoting violence and physical injury.

  • The truth about greek life

1.The all fraternity and all sorority GPA is always higher than the overall College GPA at any given college. Fraternities and sororities must make certain GPA's to sustain being a member.
    2. All but 2 US presidents since 1825 have been fraternity members
    3. All 11 of the apollo astronauts were greek.
    4. As undergraduates greeks raise approximately 7 million per year for charity
    5. Most houses hold their members to higher standards. i.e. encouraging joining honors society and other groups on campus, having study hours and tutors, taking away privileges like parties to those who don't make grades, encouraging members to volunteer and setting up events to raise money and donating their time.
    6. Most members who have been kicked out of a house have been kicked out because they were inappropriate or didn't make grades. No house wants to be put on probation from one members actions.
    7. Most houses are actually dry (no alcohol)
    8. Greek houses are meant to create life long friendships and a support system to always have your back. That could be while attending college and your going through a tough time or moving to a new state so you join an alumni group to make new connections in an area you don't know.

  • No, colleges should not ban fraternities.

Fraternities are no different than any other organization, except for the fact that it's a lifelong commitment. Yes, there are hazing incidents but that is just a few bad people that make the whole group look bad. The truth is fraternities build people in to leaders, and are committed to community service and philanthropy. People think that students drink because of fraternities, when actually everyone in college (for the most part) drinks, not just fraternity members.
