I think there should be an exception if marijuana is needed for medical purposes, and one would have to prove that, but as much as I feel that I'm a member of an overtaxed middle class, these are things people choose to do, so yeah, why not.

As prices rise because of the tax, people will look for a cheaper source of pot and that would defeat the purpose of regulating pot and monitoring growers and distributors. Taxing marijuana might threaten Colorado's monopoly and create a situation where drug arrests rise and strain the criminal court system, since the state will have to focus on stopping the black market drug trade.
