Should DDO change the "global warming exists" Big Issue to "man-made global warming exists"?

Asked by: dylancatlow
  • Yes!!! You bet

Word clarification only helps truth tellers while leaving those with financial assets to protect in the dust. Those who still support the fiction that global warming does not exist are doing it for at least one of these reasons-
    1. Psychological 2. Financial 3. Spiritual (and neither one is really justifiable once you make it a goal to be unselfish.)

  • My stance on that would remain unchanged anyway.

I think that "global warming exists" is:

    1. Too broad of an issue.
    2. A truism.

Because not all of us are sure whether or not MAN MADE global warming exists, an actual debate or at least clashing opinions could be made from that. It would be totally stupid to make a truism a "big issue" on a debate site when obviously there are alternatives that we can actually debate from.

  • We should target the man-made global warming because we can

The Earth has a natural waxing and waning of its temperature and climate. That was shown when we had the ice age before humans did damage with emissions and such. We can not target that issue but we can change our own behaviors that would lead to more global warming. Because of this it would be appropriate to change how the DDO refers to it so that people do not think that we are the sole cause of this issue.

  • Whether or not global warming exists is not a big issue

Saying global warming is a bigger issue than man-made global warming is like saying "Violence exists" is a bigger issue than "Violent video games cause violence." Because many want to express their opinion on man-made global warming, many votes for 'Con' are actually referring to man-made global warming as seen in the comments people leave.

  • Yes, to be more specific.

Currently, if people see the prompt "Global warming exists" then they become confused. For, it is not specific to what it means by that. There is no doubt that the globe is heating up, but the question is over if it is anthropomorphic or not. So please change it so it is easier to comprehend for new users.

  • They Should Not.

I fail to see any reason as to why the DDO should change their wording in such a way. To do so is provocative and does not really help further the cause to fight global warming in any way. They should spend their time elsewhere instead of on tweaking verbiage.

  • 4.5 Billion years of "Climate Change" NOT MAN MADE

I stand on the argument that after 4.5 Billion years of climate change we have very little to do with the long term health of planet earth. 99% of all species that ever lived on our planet were extinct before the industrial age of man. Certainly we should be focused on environmental responsibility, but "Global Warming initiative is all about power and money.

  • My stance depends.

It really matters what DDO is aiming for with their Big Issue. We don't know if they mean man-made or natural. For all we know, this can be intentional. They may have just meant the question to be about the Earth warming up in general, and not by humans. Just my two cents.

The question should be changed to "Is there scientific support for the belief that man made global warming is the catastrophic boogeyman that the environmental crowd preaches it to be?"
