Should debate on education be skill-based rather than knowledge-based?

  • Education is more important but skill is most important

It is true Our young generation needs to be skilled in order to get employment. It is very much important to get skills and only then we can think of a bright future of a country. Nowadays we usually face this problems that a person is knowledgeable but not skilled enough to do a particular job.

  • Education should be skilled based rather than knowledge based

In a class all the students may not be excellent in their studies alone so they have other projects in which the weaker students can come up . In our society it is not only knowledge that matters but if u have the skill to do something u can guarantee work

  • Skilled based education

Yes i support the motion that education should be skilled based rather than knowledge based because the education which does not give any advantage so what is need of that education if a person can do well in skilled based education so he must support the topic skilled based education

  • Yes it's true

The majority of jobs are in the skilled trades, yet it wouldn’t be hard to build programs
around the needs of information technology companies, tech start-ups and 21st century
manufacturing firms. With a strong network of community colleges and online schools and a
diverse industry base here in Kansas City, our leaders should be making connections with
initiatives such as Skills for America’s Future a top priority.

  • Debates are mandatory

Debates are mandatory because today if we have only knowledge its equivalent to having nothing . Todays job industry is mainly focussing on skill based people who can bring success and will prosper with help of skill. I am not saying that education is useless it is usefull but only with the skill to apply them

  • Vocational skills need to be encouraged.

If the argument is that we should teach more vocational skills in school, then I support that. I see no reason to say the current school system is at all effective. For starters we need to encourage individual initiative, where students who try hard whether academically, vocationally, socially or physically are both looked at in high regard. While those who may not succeed in these categories are encouraged to try harder, possibly through taking courses more centered on these skills. I also say we teach kids more day-to-day skills and knowledge, such as how mortgages work and easy ways to pay them off, sure these kind of things may be talked about now but if we emphasize them then students would be a lot better off in life after high school.

  • Yes it is imp

Education debate should focus on skill-based education as opposed to knowledge-based education. Kids need to be prepared to get a job when they graduate. They should receive skills that will allow them to effectively transition into the working class. This will make for a better workforce for our country which will improve our country.

  • Yes i support that education be skill-based rather than knowledge-based

Education debate should focus on skill-based education as opposed to knowledge-based education. The theoretical knowledge we gain must be practically used too. Because it's practice what you preach......... If we that the area of a square is side*side and we have a situation arising where we have to use this same knowledge into our daily life and we fail to do so,what is the use of the acquired understanding??Kids need to be prepared to get a job when they graduate. They should receive skills that will allow them to effectively transition into the working class. This will make for a better workforce for our country which will improve our country.

  • I am against the motion

I respect the statement that without skill, a task can not be undertaken, but to have that skill, knowledge is necessary. I too admit that today, the world faces a shortage of more than 20 million skilled workers. In order to fulfill the need, workers need to go through steps of instruction that are possible with knowledge only. So, in the hierarchy of importance, knowledge is somewhat above than skill.

  • Things change along your career path

I'm the proud owner of a bachelor of arts in English which you wouldn't think would have contributed to the career from which I just retired which is technology based. On the contrary it reinforced my skills in reading and writing which are the basis of any career. The arts opened my mind and my ability to come up with creative tech solutions and it means I can communicate at a level which you rarely see today. All it takes is a scan across FaceBook or Twitter to see how many people are lacking in the basic skills of grammar or spelling.

  • Knowledge is important

Unless you have knowledge, you cannot discover your skill, your potential and cannot make correct decisions. Suppose you are a teacher. You have lot much of teaching skills, but you don't have knowledge about the subject you are teaching. Then how would you teach only with your skill? You cannot teach without knowledge. And to develop a skill you need to acquire knowledge. No one can help you if you have only skill and no knowledge.

  • Knowledge based education gives us a fair idea of all options of subjects

From years our school follow knowledge based education as we young cannot choose their career without any advice. Knowledge based education gives us fair idea of all subjects and topics which are avail to us and can be taken up as a topic for the career. For example if we do not know what are topics which we can take up as a career and we study only one subject to be wholly skilled in it we might take a wrong decision

  • I m against d motion

Skill based education is meant for the working adults, who needs it for increasing thier productivity....But education which is knowledge based , helps in satisfying the thirst of the knowledge in the students and it also iz meant for increasing the students knowledge starving brain.....It what the skiled based education does....

  • Knowledge is most important.

And that is the only difference between a mechanic and an engineer, a mechanic has skills but no formal knowledge but an engineer has knowledge and skills he earns from his experience being professional and that is the reason why engineers are more demanded than mechanics and are more successful.

  • Education should be knowledge based rather than skill based

Knowledge is something we acquire from reading and learning from our environment. But, skill is something which we acquire by experience. Actually speaking for a skill to be done successfully knowledge is the key and is a base. For example when we join a company the first thing the members of the company test is knowledge by conducting an interview.

  • Education is Important

Suppose you are a teacher. You have lot much of teaching skills, but you don't have knowledge about the subject you are teaching. Then how would you teach. Also if you want job in any company then you have to show how much knowledge you have acquired, what degree you have.Without degree no one would give you job even you are enough skilled in that subject. And to develop a skill you need to acquire knowledge. No one can help you if you have only skill and no knowledge.

  • Knowledge is important to perform a skill

To perform a simple skill a minimum of knowledge is required. We can take a simple example - in a cottage industry to make bamboo mats or bowls people should have a knowledge of which bamboo should be selected and which instruments are used to cut the bamboo. Therefore i conclude by saying that skill is important but to perform that skill knowledge is more important.

  • Knowledge means familiarity with anything.....

Skill based knowledge is necessary but it doesn't means that knowledge isn't important. Any skills taught would have to be taught through a medium which include knowledge. Knowledge plays a vital role in the decision making process. If you have complete knowledge you can easily make correct decisions in life. Without knowledge it becomes hard to deal with people or circumstances...
