    Many people in the world know English but many do not and have their own languages. If one were to be chosen it should be a new one entirely that everyone has to learn. Of course, that is not going to happen but we should not be patriarchal and think English is it.

    Instead of learning English, many students learn another, more useful language. It used to be that, wherever you went, someone would speak English, but that is no longer true for many parts of the world. My opinion is that there should be no one official language of the world. That would give an unfair advantage to, for example, native English speakers. Everyone needs to make an effort to communicate. Americans, Brits, Kiwis, and Aussies need to stop being lazy and get learning languages. The need for English is quickly disappearing.
