Should fast food employees be allowed protection from aggressive customers?

If the employee is being rude towards the customer, that still does not give the customer reason to be violent. The employee should be reported and be left for the employer to take care of. It doesn't matter whether the customer has weapons or not, if they are being aggressive to employers be it verbal or physical, they should be asked to leave and possibly even face prosecution. If the employee started yelling at customers and attacking them, they would be fired on the spot, there would be no debate about it, so why should employees have to take it from customers?
