Should fast food restaurants hire college graduates?

  • I'm a college student and we need work.

Fast food restaurants provide college students with flexible hours that will work with their school schedules. We need the job to not only pay for school but to pay our car notes and to eat food. Why should we be refused a job because of our over qualifications. The job is not meant to last forever it is a stepping stone to help us get to where we are trying to be. And besides better for educated people to run the establishment then a bunch of uneducated bruits that will spit in your food.

  • Why Wouldn't They

In my opinion fast food restaurants offer some of the poorest service of any business establishment around. I believe if a college graduate applies for a position at a fast food restaurant, they should undoubtedly be hired. In our economy people seek employment both within and outside of their designated career field. Fast Food restaurants could benefit from the knowledge graduates could bring to the floor and they may be able to offer suggestions for better workflow.

  • Yes. Fast food restaurants should hire college graduates; To not do so is discrimination.

Fast food restaurants should hire any qualified applicant who applies. To not hire college graduates is to discriminate, which is illegal. College students are graduating with inordinate amounts of debt, due to the greediness of higher education institutions, and they need jobs-any jobs-that will help them keep a roof over their head, pay down their debt and eat. If all that's available are fast food restaurants, then yes, they should hire college graduates-AND PAY A LIVING WAGE (at least $11/hour).

  • Graduates should not be discounted.

Why shouldn't a fast food restaurant hire a college graduate? It's tough to get a job these days and graduates shouldn't be discounted for just needing to make some money at a fast food restaurant. It may not be the most desirable job, but sometimes just getting to make a few dollars flipping burgers is what's needed to pay the bills.

  • No, not unless they are the manager.

It does not make sense for fast food places to hire college grads because they are way overqualified for the position. As soon as they are hired they will all be looking for a better job immediately and would not be there for very long. It just does not make sense to hire them.
