  • Yes, definitely.

I think it should be. Why shouldn't it? It is a team sport and I think that's very important in the Olympics. It is a very popular sport and lots of country's play it. There are a lot of keen footballers in the world who would like to represent their country in the Olympic games.

  • Yes why not

I do not know why not. The Olympics is picking up all kinds of other sports. Football is a popular sport and gets a lot of support. I think that if the committee wanted to add it, it would be a great opportunity for other countries to expand their sports to football.

  • Yes, I don't see a reason for fottball to be excluded from the olympics.

Other popular team sports such as soccer, hockey and basketball are all included as Olympic sports, football should be no different. Football might add more popularity to the winter Olympics if it were to be included as a sport. The only problem is that football is not an international sport in the way that the other team sports are.

  • It would only help

The Olympics is mean to be a time when the world is united around a celebration of athletics and patriotism, while at the same time peaceful and harmonious. The fact that american football, the most popular sport in a country of 320 million, is not included is a shame and should be remedied as soon as possible. For a time the Americans would dominate, but adding american football would improve the quality of play across the world as well as help end the staggered quality of nations.

  • Growing worldwide sport

American football is played on every continent in the world. Although America would probably win. It would be great expirence for other countries to join playing football. It would draw in a new crowd for the olympics and bring it more revenue. Everyone would love having it in the olympics.

  • Certainly not

America is the place where it's primarily played. There will not be a fan base for it. Almost no countries would participate. It's more of a cultural sport if that makes sense. It seems huge because it's all over America, leave the country and you'll never hear a word of it.

  • No Football Should Not Be in the Olympics

Football is a sport mostly played in the United States and does not have worldwide appeal. It makes no sense for the Olympics, an international event, to include football. There would not be a great number of countries participating. Additionally, the injuries are so severe that there would not be a great number of the best players willing to risk playing in the Olympics and shorten their career.

  • No, American Football should not be in the Olympics

Although my wife and I live and breathe football, we both agree that it should not be an Olympic sport. The reason has nothing to do with the competition itself and everything to do with the lack of global outreach. The failed NFL Europe League proved that American Football is a western sport. Until there is global support and talent for the sport around the world, it does not make sense to allow it in the Olympics. The equivalent would be allowing Australia's Premiere League to be a part of the Olympics. It is a hybrid sport mixing some aspects of rugby and football together. Very intense and high collision sport. Extremely popular in it's respective country. No place for the Olympics.

  • American Football is only played in the us and 3 other countries

No one would play. If you go outside of the country you wont hear a word about football or anything related except soccer so why care. Would we be there to win by default I think so. So would we rather go to not do anything but get all of the medals and not win a thing

  • Not enough countries play it

This is an easy no. Only 1 country has it as a "primary" sport (USA), and a few other countries play it. This isn't nearly enough.

Every other sport in the olympics is done in every or almost every country. Take Soccer (Futbol) for example. It's played and popularized in every country in the world. This isn't the case for Football.

  • Introducing the Sport attack

Olympics are for medals on your own or in a team like new Zealand not just a sport like soccer . Should rugby be in the Olympics if soccer is rugby should no points could disagree with the rugby teams when they are saying that rugby is a great sport and deserves to be in the Olympics. Soccer and rugby both should be in the Olympics

  • Football should not

Be in the Olympics because not enough countries play it. This would result in Americans killing off all competition, which honestly would not be that fun to watch. Also, not many people would want to watch football even if there was good competition in football because they are not familiar with the sport.

  • Why is this a debate

Although in America the sport is known as football and it is played across the country most other countries call it american football showing how this is not an international sport. Its great that this sport is enthroned in American culture however in Ireland there is a sport know as GAA enthroned in the countries heritage it is huge in Ireland so Irish people may be led to think this sport is international but much like american football there is very little countries that play it despite how huge it appears in the home nation

  • Not enough countries play to a competitive level

Would be a free gold medal to the USA, wouldn't be entertaining as would be a walkover in any games the USA were in, other matches between other countries would be so poor quality they would not be worth watching. Also the relaxed attitude towards PEDs is against the Olympic code and before someone uses road cycling as an example, it was very nearly chucked out when the Lance Armstrong revelation came about

  • What the hell no

Guys its called "AMERICAN football" for a reason because only Americans play it. Bringing football to Olympics is like bringing Cricket to Olympics. If you leave America and you talk about football, people will have no idea what you are talking about because the sport is only played in America.
