  • Just another example of the oppression of Christianity.

Because of stupid cults such as Christianity, women have had no choice in their own lives for thousands of years! In fact, dresses are sexist, so it should be mandatory for girls and boys to wear tuxedos. In fact, if it weren't for ChrisTARDS and their stupid inquisitions, we would have gotten equal rights for women by the fall of Rome.

  • Yes, girls should be allowed to wear a tux to the prom.

We have come a long way since the 1800's when women could only wear dresses. Long dresses at that. They were not allowed to show their ankles. As the years go by, the dresses and skirts get shorter, and we are allowed to wear pants. Well, who has the right to tell us we can't wear a tux? It is respectful and neat. I don't think anyone has the right to dictate what a person wears to prom, as long as it is not vulgar.

  • Why Not Let Them?

No one is hurt by someone wearing what they are most comfortable wearing. Prom is important to a great many high school students, and if a girl wants to wear a tux instead of a dress, she should be allowed to express herself in such a way. A tuxedo is less offensive than some of the super short and revealing dresses many girls wear, anyway.

  • Absolutely, Why not?

I have one thing to say to those people who say no- are you the one wearing the outfit! NO! Its not like we are forcing you to wear this or that! People have a choice and if they want to then they can wear a tuxedo! Who is going to stop them?

  • We don't live in the Victorian age anymore.

If a girl or a woman wishes to wear a tux to a school prom, then that is her choice and we should not be policing that. Some girls just aren't comfortable in dresses and skirts and who are we to judge for that?

No one should be made to feel uncomfortable at a prom, which is meant to be a happy time for everyone, and if a girl is more happy wearing a tuxedo, then that's no one else's business and they shouldn't be telling her otherwise.

  • Does it matter

It doesn't matter what someone looks like, or how someone dresses. Let them be who ever they want, that's a way some people express them self. If a Man wants to wear a dress to prom, let him. If a women wants to wear a tux, let her. I don't see a difference... As long as that individual is happy.

  • Gender roles are dying for a good reason

There's no legitimate reason to contest this. A girl wearing a tuxedo does not harm anyone else (meaningfully -- I guess people could say that it harms their eyesight, but this harm is caused by personal preference rather than an objective truth). I think society would be able to exist without these gender roles, especially when they infringe upon people's rights (in this case, free expression).

  • It is a respectable thing to wear

As longs as girls dress appropriately and respectively then it should not matter what they wear. A Tuxedo is both appropriate and respectable. If its good enough for the guys then why would it not be good enough for the girls?

Too much emphasis is placed on looking feminine at these events.

  • Everyone should be allowed to wear what they want.So girls should be allowed to wear tuxedos!

There shouldn't be any rules saying that they cant wear what they want. We all should be allowed to wear what we feel right. Also what we wear should be decided by us. Others cant state their opinions on this matter. But sadly some people are to nosy and comment/ give their opinions on others clothing. This is just not right. Every one has their on way of clothing, so girls wearing tuxedos to prom shouldn't be much of a deal.

  • This should go without saying

There should be no mandates regulating clothing based upon gender. That instills that there is a fundamental difference between genders outside of reproduction, and these ideas can follow someone throughout their lives. At this age some personal discretion can be had by the young adult.

  • Why would they need to?

Firstly it goes against principle and the dress code, one of the critical pillars of a prom or ball is to choose an appropriate gown or dress. Women in tuxes is also strange and unnerving for most of those around her. Should not the school decide, as they are the one who organize the affair.

  • No, girls should not be allowed to wear tuxedos to prom.

I believe that girls should not be allowed to wear tuxedos to prom. Girls should wear what is appropriate for young women and boys should wear what is appropriate for young men. If girls could wear tuxedos, then guys could wear formal dresses? The idea is ridiculous. Keep gender roles separate for this big occasion. Half the fun for girls going to prom is picking out their dress!

  • No girls shouldn't be allowed to wear tuxedos to prom.

She can throw her own party and wear one or she can simply not attend prom. Prom is a privilege not a right. Students have to follow the school standards for appropriate attire to be allowed to have the privilege of attending certain school sanctioned events. Its simply inappropriate. Its only one night.

  • Boys should be boys and girls should be girls,

People talk about gender roles being eliminated as a great thing.Do I live in a different America than the rest of you.Women are not oppressed and haven't been for decades. There is a reason we are the greatest society the world has ever seen ,and part of that is our respect and admiration of our women,You are a special breed and so different from men and I say that as a great thing ,if the precious individuals that we as men live and die for start acting like we do than we are no longer a civilized society .Women are different than men and thank god for that...

If a girl wears a tux to prom, they will just get bullied and teased constantly and it would ruin ther night for them. Wear a tux but understand what others are gonna think. Words can hurt. Yes because gender roles are dumb, but No, if you're going to wear a tux and then get sad and depressed because people made fun of you, And nobody say "well it shouldn't matter what other people think" cause i would agree with you, but girls will do this, get bullied at prom, and the school will be sued for some dumb reason about letting someone get bullied at their event, and a women will not be aloud to wear tuxes any way.
