Yes, groundwater supply protection should be a priority when companies use hydraulic fracturing to extract natural resources, because it is important to respect the environment when harvesting for natural resources. There can be a balance where the fracturing can occur while safeguards are taken for the protection of the environment.
With any extraction of natural resources, there are two things that should be considered above all. How will this process impact the planet? How will this process impact the quality of life of any persons involved directly or indirectly? Unfortunately, these questions are rarely asked, and replaced with one constant within a capitalist economy. "How can I make more money?"
I personally think that the groundwater supply protection should be a priority because when companies use hydraulic fracturing to extract natural resources it makes the environment a better place. I personally think that the groundwater supply protection protects the environment from all of the germs as well as the bacteria.
It is more important to have oversight over groundwater supply now that hydraulic fracturing has become a more significantly used method to seek out oil. There could be serious consequences if the water supply is not closely watched. We are not currently certain of the consequences hydraulic fracturing can bring because it is a fairly new technology, but we need to watch groundwater supply closely.
If the fracking companies can not extract natural resources without harming or polluting the ground water, then they should not even be able to do the fracking. We need to put an end to these unregulated companies destroying the environment and our food and water supply for their own profit.
Ground water protection already is a major priority in Fracking. That industry is heavily regulated. Movies like Gasland were fraudulent. The maker of that movie has been in legal trouble more than once because of his involvement with that and lying about things. Fracknation is a response to it as is Truthland (which is free on YouTube) Fracking done right is harmless to the enviornment. Three things have to be done carefully. One, the concrete lining in the pipe into the ground must be poured properly. Two, the liner for the lube pool most be in tact. Three, spills must be avoided. That's sort of common sense. Fracking has measurably reduced our global carbon emissions. It has increased our production of Natural gas and made it cheaper. NG burns cleaner. It has also been a boon to the little guy. Ordinary people have made a great deal of money because of Fracking.
