Should hate speech by protected under the government because of the right to free speech?

  • As another user put it: The price of civilization

I guess the only question that needs asking is: Who draws the line between 'free speech' and 'hate speech'?

What I am trying to say is that our morality influences all our actions, hence the line would be drawn according to each persons intentions.

Free speech must encompass all speech.

  • The price of civilization

Hate speech is just somebody being a jerk to somebody else. As a civilized group of people, we have to put up with these guys, as they are entitled to their honest opinion, however insipid it may be. If they voice said opinion, at least they're coming forward with it. If they're hate speeching just to get a reaction, well, there's no shortage of trolls that don't get banned.
