  • Well, it's more useful than most of the other stuff.

High schools mostly teach a bunch of useless stuff. Yeah, Math and Language arts are incredibly important. But unless you're a historian, you shouldn't have to know details of history. Unless you want to pursue a career in science, you shouldn't have to learn how to do chemistry and what have you. Driving classes would be the most useful long term class in high school ever.

  • They should teach more life skills

School is supposed to teach you skills to get by in real life. Driving is a MUST in this country, why wouldnt we want our professional teachers teaching a vital skill? It needs to be taken more seriously, drivers are bad in cities these days. Maybe it will help with all the accidents? Perhaps.

  • The students have much more to look forward to

All students should have something to look forward to all exept for party's and school activities they could learn how to drive while having a good time in school. They could be more independent if there parents need help on the road or at home with siblings that is why i think that schools should have driving classes

  • Where is common Sense

Yes we should be teaching kids how to drive in school. For those that say it is a waste, remember the next time you see an accident that it was preventable. Every accident on the road is preventable. If we teach our kids, your kids how to drive in school, you will, i repeat will see the number of roadway fatalities go down in the following years. Alot of kids dont have the opportunity to get out and learn because either nobody cares to take them out or their family doesn't have the funding to have a car for them to learn in. Thus when they become old enough to get a license and car they are very inexperienced and learn by trial and error. I dont think driving is something to take lightly and learn by trial and error. Do you remember the last time you were out in public and you watched someone do something so stupid you said WOW and kind of felt like an that person is a little off their rocker. Guess what, they more than likely are going to be sitting next to you at the red light driving the same car you are and cutting you off or slamming on the brakes for no reason. Way too many fatalities happen each and every year and day for this to be looked at as something that should be handled "in your own time" and "if you want to drive you can take the course" Please lets make this a safer world we live in and cut funding for other things that dont have an effect on how many people live or die each day and put our money into our kids success rate in life by giving them the ability to be able to navigate the places we call roads these days

  • The school should teach behind the wheel driving

I am appalled that the schools expect the parents to teach the kids to drive instead of a driving instructor. At my sons HS, they say the parent has to teach the kid to dive and then they will do the in car 7/7 instruction/observation. I think the instructors are just being LAZY and are trying to get the parents to do all the hard work for them so all they have to do is sit on their fat arses and watch the kids drive.

  • People need to know how to drive.

There are so many teens getting in accidents because of unsafe driving but if every teen in school is learning about how to drive safely, there will be much more safe drivers on the road. We would all be safer with the knowledge that new drivers are being taught by experienced professionals.

  • They definitely should

Schools should defininitely teach drivers ed. It would give students the opportunity to drive more before getting a licence and cost less for parents since it is included during the school day. I agree very very very very very much yess yess yess wooooo drivers ed is awesome idk why they stopped teaching it @ school

  • Not everyone needs it

Many people either don't want to learn to drive or don't have the need to learn to drive, and thus there is no point forcing them into a class when they don't need to drive, and thus don't care, or want to waste valuable academic time. There are barely enough hours in the school day as there is, most students do not have cars and do not have the ability to take the class, schools do not have the funding to buy the cars necessary, and larger schools wouldn't be able to teach very many.

  • No, because School poisons all that is fun.

Just look at education. I actually enjoy learning, but I hate learning at school. In fact the majority of students will say that they hate school. Why? Because school sucks the lifeblood out of anything that is fun and replaces it with conformity and boringness. Now if you make driving part of mandatory education at school you can guess what will happen. Driving must not be tainted by this evil that we call school. We might see the disappearance of Nascar, Formula 1, and Tokyo Drift all together.

  • No, there are other ways to learn to drive.

While it can be a nice and easy high school course to take, driving is extraneous to the learning environment. Parents can teach their kids, the handbook can be read on one's own and studied, or driving schools can be engaged. It does not seem as if we should be paying to teach kids to drive in public schools.
