Home ownership should be more affordable. I think we should have a better system and give everyone that wants a right to own a home the ability to be able to do so. Right now, only the wealthy really are the only ones that are not struggling to pay their mortgage and their basic bills every month.
We have a crisis in America today, home ownership isn't a legitimate possibility for many people. This is an injustice to the American people. These markets should be adjusted so the working class has an opportunity to give their families what they deserve. Otherwise, we will have a welfare nation and a lot of broken families.
Housing should not be anywhere near as expensive as it is presently. Everyone needs a place to live, a roof over their heads right? Why should it be costing them an arm and a leg to do so? I don't think it should. We all have a right to affordable housing in my opinion. So yes home ownership should definitely be more affordable than it currently is.
Working families who intend to have a long-term home should be able to afford to buy. Renting and constantly moving can be expensive and it can be a hassle. Owning a home is a large investment, but it can pay off in the long run. The problem is that families often don't have the capital to be able to afford a home, and have to rely on loans that bring high interest rates. Our economic system should be structured such that if a working family with a steady income wants to buy a home and intends to be in the same place for a long time, then they should be able to do so. Home ownership needs to be more affordable for the lower and middle class.
I believe that it should definitely be more affordable for people to be able to get a roof over their heads, but that doesn't necessarily mean home ownership. Renting and such are also viable options. Home ownership is a whole different thing, and trying to make homeowners out of people who are simply not ready to own a home is part of what created the current financial crisis.
