  • Hard working people

America supposed to be a free country to anyone who wants to get away, and make themselves a home, I think Obama, is a great president, and give anyone who wants to be a citizen, America did belong at one time to the Indians anyway ,now where is the Indians anyway .

  • I believe we need to think about it.

Most of illegal immigrants come to this country to find a better way of life. If the US would grant an amnesty, the police could focus more actual crime rather than try to get hard working illegal immigrants. The economy could also improve by doing this. Mainly because most of the immigrants here are here to work hard. If they are legal, they could get taxed and bring in money for the U.S. Also, splitting families apart is never good for anyone. Many families get split up because one of the parents is just trying to get their children a better way of life, but are here illegally. Many people say "why can't they just come in legally?" It is because the U.S. makes it very hard for people to get all their documents. If you were born in the U.S., I bet you that your family came from a different country at one point. How would you feel if they were trying so many things to get your family out, when they only want a better life? I believe that only the ones with criminal records should not be allowed to get amnesty.

  • Yes, I believe that illegal immigrants should be granted amnesty.

  • Whaaaaat!!!!!!! Are you kidding.

Are you kidding me. Illegial immigrants are just people who wont wait in line. Plenty of people are trying to enter the states legally who are in the same status as most of these illegal immigrants: poor, and jobless. The only difference is.... They are doing it legally. Just because they are hardworking, and hungry, doesn't mean they should get priority. Others wait to get in in the same status. Immigration to the U.S. is great, but Illegial immigration to the U.S. is a joke. We need to give everyone the same initiation, and not give priority to the illegals.

  • They should get amnesty to keep families together and improve as a country

Many families are separated due to the fact that many are illegal immigrants. Many families are broken up, leaving many innocent children without that foundation to be better citizens. If illegal immigrants are granted amnesty, the country would improve, more families together, more chances of the future generation to be much more successful, making the U.S a better country.

  • Undocumented immigrants should be granted amnesty

Undocumented immigrants come to the united states for a better life and food or a job and just because they are undocumented they doesn't mean that they shouldn't be granted amnesty. Undocumented immigrants get treatend in there country that is a another reason why they come to this country ok.

  • Mhm cuz..I said

The reason why i say this is that alot of children will be separated from their families. Why would u separate a family that are working hard to provide their children for them to stay healthy and\or alive.Police can just arrest the immigrants with criminal records. This can make the world a better place without the pointless police brutality and without the separartion of families.

  • Yes, some illegal immigrants should be granted amnesty under certain conditions.

The debate of illegal immigration is one of the most controversial political issues of our time, and it's most certainly not an easy issue to solve. President Obama has used executive order, but all this caused was bickering between parties and the deal still had plenty of problems. So what should the U.S. do?

Here are just a few ideas:

First, amnesty should be mostly for families with at least one U.S. citizens if there has been no significant incidents with the law. Many of you posting in this forum have also said the same thing. Keeping families united is a #1 priority.

Second, those who are granted amnesty should not be allowed to collect welfare benefits or government subsidies for a specific period of time. This is because the U.S. would be using tax payer dollars for people who are currently illegal in the U.S. In my opinion, it simply doesn't make sense to give money away to illegals. They should also have to pay their full taxes like every other U.S. citizen and if not, there should be a consequence.

Third, illegals who are granted amnesty should not be allowed to vote. According to The Dallas Morning News, in the 2012 presidential election 71 percent of Hispanics voted for Obama. Keep in mind that according to "Demographics of Immigrants in the United States Illegally" by ProCon.Org, 74 percent of the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants are of Hispanic descent. What does this mean? When Obama used executive order to create the protection from deportation laws, there was a loophole for those illegal immigrants to vote. With 71 percent of Hispanics voting for Obama (or Democratic Party), plus a possibility of an additional 74 percent of illegal immigrants, it will have an immense effect on the next election.

In conclusion, these ideas and Obama's executive order are just the beginning of the battle of illegal immigration. Which I believe can be solved by granting families amnesty under certain conditions such as voting and government subsidy regulations.

  • Yes some illeagal immigrants should be granted amnesty.

The first type of immigrants that should be granted amnesty are those who have immediate family that are US citizens. It is immoral and unethical to split up families by deporting immigrants. How would you feel if at a young age, one or even both of your parents were sent away to a different country? Also by keeping families together there is a better chance those children will have a good childhood, attend school, and be productive members of society.

The second type of immigrants we should grant amnesty to are those that are productive members of society. This includes working immigrants, immigrants who pay taxes, and immigrants who abide by the law. I know people on the "no" side of this debate were saying illeagal immigrants were not paying taxes and that is not true. According to the Institute of Taxation and Economic Policy undocumented immigrants paid 11.84 billion dollars in taxes in 2012.

I'm not saying that all illeagal immigrants should be granted amnesty. Illeagal Immigrants with felonies or who are just unproductive members of society should not be granted amnesty. There are, however, a lot of immigrants that do deserve to be U.S. Citizens.

Also, I know other people in this forum have made this point, but I think it's important to realize that most illeagal immigrants are looking for a better life for their family, and it is important to remember that most of our ancestors were immigrants who came to America in hope of exactly that.

  • Illegal means against the law, PERIOD!

See above. We cannot possibly permanently absorb 15+ million 3rd world, low-skilled, uneducated laborers and their extended families. They should never be eligible for welfare. Until we have an unemployment rate of 0% they can all go home. How can our progressive, Marxist president decide what laws to enforce! I guess obama smoked more pot and snorted more coke than we know. It's affected his moral compass.

  • No.

There's a reason they're called illegal immigrants. Why would we let them basically break the law? There is a set up system if you want to become an American and if you don't want to do it the way our nation says, then you don't belong in this nation. Otherwise, who would go through the trouble of legally becoming a citizen?

  • HElL TO THE NAH

THE MEXICANS ARE TAKING OUR JERBS. THESE MEXICcans NEED TO STAY IN MEXICO. PRAISE BE TO OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST. IN THE BIBLE IT STATES " YOU SHALL NOT PASS" AND I LIVE BY THESE WORDS. MEXICANS NEED TO STAY IN THEIR COUNTRY AND KEEP THEMSELVES FROM CORRUPTING AMERICAN SOCIETY. HEIL TRUMP.

  • No, they broke the law.

Don't reward lawbreakers or else this country is going to bankrupt because of them lawbreakers. Let their country take care of their problems. They come over as if we owe them something. Start taxing all churches for adding to this dilemma. Help or own people ie. Veterans, homeless citizens, our schools, our ghettos and much more...

  • No

There is a right way and a wrong way to do things. We should not reward those people who choose to do things the wrong way. That should be a privilege that people who have taken the right channels to be here get. If they would just earn it instead of taking it I would be fine with it.

  • No for economic and moral reasons

Economic: Illegal immigrants are bad for the economy. They suck government-subsidized health care and other governmental benefits without paying any taxes or identifying themselves at all. They also take job opportunities away from unemployed Americans. If I was unemployed, I would rather pick strawberries or clean carpets than have no money to my name whatsoever.

Moral: It undermines the system for legal immigrants. People wait long times in line very patiently to be granted citizenship into this country. Illegal immigrants make legal immigration look like a joke. They undermine the morals of the legal immigration policy and of America. It's time to stop illegal immigration in its entirety.

  • It's a solution searching for a problem.

No country should allow illegals to enter the country. Therefore, there should be safeguards to prohibit illegal entry and methods for identifying and deporting those who get through.
But, too many have now gotten through. Deportation is not now practical. So, let them stay so long as they abide by the law.
The argument goes that if they pay a fine and taxes this will make up for the economic costs of their health and education costs (which we now provide because we are a compassionate nation). But this is bunk!. Most illegals are at the low end of the income ladder and their taxes won't come close to covering their costs.
In conclusion, don't reward an illegal act. It sets a precedent for further bending of the rules.

  • No, immigrants should work within the system

There are situations where the U.S should grant amnesty, but not to all the people who are currently residing here illegally. I do think that the immigration system needs some work, and there are definitely valid reasons to grant amnesty, but people wishing to pursue citizenship and live here should go through the proper process and pay taxes like everyone else.

  • Not in most cases

Sometimes an immigrant may be here illegally because they feared for their life in their home country and had to flee, and if there's reason to believe that's valid then yes, they should get amnesty. In most cases however, they shouldn't. Simply coming here to make more money or for a "change of pace" aren't valid reasons to cross the border illegally.

  • Illegal means against the law, PERIOD!
