Should India receive economic sanctions for banning gay sex?

Asked by: MasturDbtor
  • Prevention of human rights.

Of course they should face economic sanctions for the prevention of freedom. They should also in this day in age face an international tribunal. It should be illegal to prevent someone from doing something that prevents them loving another human.

Bring India to justice and stop trade links with these animals!

  • Restrict trade with India

The international community should send a message of condemnation to India for its laws criminalizing gay sex and any other country that imposes criminal penalties for people having gay sex. This is violation of people's human rights that is unacceptable in the 21st century and needs to be stopped now.

  • Restriction of humans rights is expressly illegal, re. International law.

All countries do have the right to self-determinate, yes. They all have the right to their own affairs. This does not extend to violations or restrictions of basic human rights; in fact, as per international law the UN, and all member nations, have a duty to ensure that human rights are upheld, and this duty extends to taking punitive and corrective measures against all nations that restrict or violate the rights of their citizens. And yes, banning and/or restricting certain consensual aspects of sexuality does 'count' as a violation of basic human rights according to international law.

Economic sanctions for outlawing the essential rights of their populace sounds like a pretty good idea to me.

  • India is an Independent Democracy

India is one of the world's largest Democracies. All our laws are made through a strict Parliamentary process. It would be unjust to impose something that the majority of the people are against.Other countries have no business poking their noses into the affairs of a sovereign nation, especially when public opinion is so divided on this issue in most countries.

  • Indian Culture does not allow this type of relation

Every country and community has its own culture and rules for development of the society according to their own social and geographical conditions. Indian culture does not allow for homosexuality. So India have the right to preserve its culture . If international community impose economic sanctions on India then its also the human right violation. Western countries has own culture and India also has its own culture and both have the right to preserve it...

  • Gay Sex Ban in Line with Country's Beliefs

India has chosen to ban gay sex because of cultural beliefs and mores. There is nothing wrong with standing up for what you believe in, and that is what the country has chosen to do. People who want to engage in gay sex should not move or travel to India.

  • Every country has its culture which we all should respect

Allowing gay sex is not a human right, it's only a bad thing that America and other countries allowed and we shouldn't follow them just because they claim it is a human right, or it is a freedom of choice. We shouldn't discuss this because it is a result of allowing gay sex in their countries, I think we should first undermine the legalization of gay sex in their countries, then discuss other important things.

I don't know if economic sanctions are the answer, but something needs to be done about this ridiculous situation. India is trying hard to advance in the modern world, yet this is a huge step backwards.
