Saying Jesus is the best option for utopia by merely offering him as a solution for a different problem...That is not as helpful. But in reverse, actually fixing the world makes him a shoo-in for the messiah. My point being, there is more than one way to prove he is the messiah than just proving he was who he said he was, based on debatable scripture.
It's up to us to make what He did worth something. It's up to us to make the world either good or bad, and anyone who says otherwise has massive locus of control issues. Jesus fixing problems we made is something of a cop-out for everyone involved, because He would just be a way of ducking responsibility for those actually responsible.
