My disdain for the Ravens aside, the guy was a pancake machine at tackle. He was a wall that even when age slowed him down the quickest young rushers had a lot of trouble getting past, and he was a monster creating lanes for the runner. He'll be there, and he should be.
Offensive tackles may not be the flashiest of football positions. They do not get to sack the quarterback or run for touchdowns. However, they do open holes for running backs, and they do offer quarterbacks pass protection. This is something Ogden did exceptionally well. He helped the Ravens win a lot of games.
Jonathan Ogden should definitely e inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He played at a high level throughout his career and played a key role when the Baltimore Ravens won their Super Bowl in the early 200's. Ogden was an 11 time Pro-Bowler and a 9 time All Pro as well. He deserves it.
I think that if you look back on his career in an objective and impartial manner, one will realize that Jonathan Ogden does not have a spot waiting for him in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He did some impressive things as a player, but not enough to get in.
