  • An Eye for an Eye, and a Tooth for a Tooth

Children who sexually abuse other people are no more revolting than adults who do it. These bleeding-heart nutjobs claim that they're children, and somehow their crimes are "different".

If you commit an adult crime, you deserve an adult punishment.

"Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:" (Matt. 5:38)

  • Yes they should

They should because they need to have the same right as an adult muderer would so they would have the same rights. If the kid commited first degree murderer he should go to jail because he intentionaly murdered someone so that wouldn't be fair to the victims family so i think they should

  • I think so

If your intelligence is of the level to think and commit the crime of an adult it would be more than fair for the child to be tried as a child, for he or she is thinking at the level of an adult. For example, if a child commits murder and feels no remorse about it, it would only right if the child is tried as an adult, for the child acted upon the way he or she felt.

  • A crime is a crime

Yes, juveniles should be tried as adults because, if a 15 year old boy pulls a gun on somebody and kills them, they did that crime the victim is still dead it doesn't matter weather the offender was 15 or 25 that life was still taken, they did that crime therefore that person should have the same punishment as everybody else that has done that crime. They shouldn't get special treatment because of their age.

  • Juvenile offenders should be tried as adults

Children who are capable of violent crimes such as murder, rape, or assault and battery should be tried as adults. Children are much smarter and more aware of things then some adults give them credit for being and some deliberately commit violent crimes in their teens in order to avoid an adult sentence for the crime. Children are also aware there are consequences for the things they do and are smart enough to say they didn't understand what would happen when they did "x" when they did know and understand what the end results would be.

  • Depending on the crime, juveniles should be tried as adults

A juvenile can be considered up to like 16 years old. At 16 you know what you are doing, you are aware of the cause and effect of your actions. I think that for real crimes, outside of minor youth acting out, juveniles should be tried as adults and pay for their crime.

  • Juvenile offenders should be tried as adults.

Juvenile offenders should be tried as adults. Depending on the situation I think that juveniles should be charged as adults. We should not allow them to do any harmful act and just because of their age treat them any differently. If they can commit the crime and then are proven guilty of it then they should face the time.

  • If the crime is adult in nature then the charges should be adult

Yes, some juvenile offenders should be tried as adults. The issue surround the legal system is repeat offender. Juveniles, because they are such, are being given slaps on the hand for committing some serious crimes. Children have more sense then we give them credit for, they understand the system know that they will not be punished appropriately. In turn juveniles offenders become adult offenders. If the message is sent that you will be punished, many of issue offenders would not repeat the actions.

  • Should juvenile offenders be tried as adults?

Juvenile offenders shouldn't be tried as an adult because in adult prison their is little focus on activities like education. A prison system is big on punishment and most of the time it doesn't exactly rehabilitate inmates. I think that adults might have a negative effect on teens who commit a violent crime. -Rachael

  • No, except in certain cases.

I would say that for most things an "offender" should be tried as a juvenile and not be exposed to the adult justice system so that they have a chance to learn and do better. But when someone has done a horrible crime, especially after planning it out with no provocation, then the adult system is fine especially for those 16 and over.

  • Juveniles should not be treated as adults.

There is a reason we treat juveniles as kids instead of adults, that is because they are sometimes too young to realize what they are doing and we also dont want to ruin their future too much. Sure, they should definitely be punished but they have yet to mature and understand what it means to be responsible for themselves and that should not be completely taken away from them if they doing something wrong.

  • Absolutely positively not.

You cannot coddle a juvenile for most of their life and then suddenly treat them like an adult when they commit a crime. Adulthood begins at 18, period. Committing a crime, no matter how heinous it may be, cannot make adulthood start earlier. A child's brain is also not fully developed, and they lack the perception and judgment of adults. A child is a child, and if we're going to refuse to treat them as adults in every other respect, we have absolutely no right to treat them as adults in a court of law.

  • Freaking No people!!!

Kids should not be placed in jail, they should be sent to juvenile detention. In jail kids become even worse than they were, and they become like the people in the jail. Also if kids are put into jail for life, then they will live out the rest of their lives in jail, or they will get their lives cut (very) short.
