  • Teens should be tried as an adult depending on severity.

Juveniles/Teens Should be tried as an adult depending on severity. Anything involving serious injuries, armed robberies, or anything that would get an adult in prison for a life sentence. If the Teen/Juvenile just shop lifted or stole a ladies purse should be tried in juvenile court. Also repeated offenses should be punished by adult court

  • I believe they should be punished

It doesn't matter of the age seriously because teens shouldn't be creating the crimes they do in the first place. Teens should be focused in school & not in murdering some one else . ALL TEENS THAT COMMIT CRIMES VERY DANGEROUS SHOULD GO TO JAIL. NO BUTTS ABOUT IT .

  • Yes They Should

I believe that teens charged with violent crimes be prosecuted as adults because the kids are old enough to face consequences and I'm pretty sure that the kids are old enough to know right from wrong. If kids want to be treated like adults, they should be punished like adults.

  • Yes on case per case

Yes there should be some juveniles that are charged as adults based on the crime committed. It should not be a set rule and there should be a case by case decision made. Factors to consider include age, intent, history, and more. A 17 year old who commits murder may be a good example.

  • Juveniles charged with violent crimes should be prosecuted as adults.

Juveniles charged with violent crimes should be prosecuted as adults in order to deter others from committing crimes in the future. It is time for the country to be tough on crime. Criminals should not be given softer penalties simply because of their age. All crimes need to be punished harshly.

  • Yes, they should be disabled.

Yes, juveniles charged with violent crimes should be prosecuted as adults, because they have committed great harms against society. They have inflicted great harm, and they are old enough to appreciate the consequences of their actions. Great punishments, as adults receive, will keep them from hurting someone else for a longer period of time.

  • Yes, they should.

I think that juvenile crimes should be treated as adults whenever the crime is serious enough or violent. I think that many young criminals use their age to hide away from getting the full arm of the law. I think that any violent crime should be graded as adults in their trial.

  • Against Juvenile Imprisonment

Juveniles are less culpable than adults when it comes to violent criminal behavior. The progressive theory states that children should be considered innocent and vulnerable as lacking the mental state required for them to be held responsible for a criminal offense because they have not acquired the wisdom that comes with age. Harden (2012) noted “Most judicially imposed shaming punishments are often public in nature and can result in physical exposure that increases the risk of physical harm or injury.” It is the assumption that imposing shaming punishments rather than intervention and rehabilitative services fails to promote juvenile justice goals. Moreover, judges that issue shaming punishments tend to introduce juveniles into physically and emotionally vulnerable positions.

  • In most cases, no.

I don't believe that it should be so easy to charge a juvenile as an adult for a crime. Many juveniles were raised in toxic environments and can be rehabilitated. I don't believe locking someone up for most of their lives or whole lives is appropriate when an offender can change so much while in prison.

  • They are not grown up enough.

They can still learn from their mistakes. They don't know very much at that age. And if they go to prison for life they don't have a chance to turn their life around. But they need to go to prison if you are above age of 10 so they will learn how to act.
