  • Yes, kids should be held back even while trying their best.

No, this not a matter of "You failed meaning you're stupid!". No! This is about helping a kid better themselves. If they are held back that means that they are obviously not understanding the material provided. They may just need to go over it again, hence why they are being held back. It's not telling the kid that they are stupid, more like helping them so that they can achieve the highest they can, which is what schools are designed to do.

If the kid tried their best and still failed, there are two reasons. One, they honestly were not trying their best. That may not always be the child's fault though. They may have social issues or problems at home. But nonetheless, they were not trying their absolute hardest. The second option is that they were doing their best but they just didn't understand the material. That means they need to be retaught the material, nothing major.

If kids do fail, even while trying their best, they should still be held back. That way the student gets a second shot at learning and achieving higher than what they had reached before. It will help the student better themselves and hopefully help them understand the material provided better.

  • Yes, they should

If a kid is trying their best and they're still not able to grasp the material that they're supposed to be learning, than they need to be held back in order to not be in way over their head further in their education. Being held back isn't a punishment for not trying hard enough or whatever, it's something that should be done so that kids are given time to be taught something.

  • Yes, they should.

The day we open criteria to whether people "try their best" is the day that specialization and education is irrelevant. If your "best" does not meet the standards, then it's very simple. You do not meet the standards. To fix this issue, perhaps you should adjust yourself to meet the set standards.

  • Yes kids should still be held back

Kids should still be held back because they still need to work on there gray areas in there work if they still move on they will become overwhelmed and then fall back in that class and then the next until and there over all grades will drop lower and lower. But if they get one point under the limit than they should continue through to the next grade or year level.
