  • It should be drained because it destroyed the most beautiful canyon on Earth.

Glen canyon was the biological heart of the Colorado plateau. It had 125 stunning side canyons. It was teeming with life and beauty. Now it is just a dirty sump that seeps and evaporates 600,000 acre feet water needlessly each year, enough to supply Los Angeles with water. It will be destroyed by the 30,000 dump trucks of silt that pour in each day within 350-700 years. The boaters who go there are usually toolish frat boys who have no respect for nature and they are always littering the area with trash. Pull the plug, drain the lake! Hayduke lives!

  • Lake Powell is way to beautiful, and too economically and biologically important to drain.

Lake Powell is one of the most beautiful places in the world. It sustains so much wildlife and without Lake Powell it will all perish. Over 2 million people visit Lake Powell every year, which is why brings in most of Page, Arizona's business. Without Lake Powell Page will be a ghost town and Arizona will lose lots of money. The federal government will also lose lots of money from the loss of revenue from the Glen Canyon Dam's hydroelectric power generation. Lake Powell is also what the upper basin states use to get water for homes and crops so that they don't DIE. Lake Powell is very important to the country.

  • No, Lake Powell should not be drained.

Lake Powell is an important place for many people and things. It should not be drained. Lake Powell is a great place for a family to go for a picnic. It also provides water for a large amount of wildlife. Draining Lake Powell will kill this surrounding wildlife. I for one cannot accept that.

  • No, I do not believe Lake Powell should be drained.

No, I do not believe Lake Powell should be drained. Lake Powell and Glen Canyon Dam are two huge tourist attractions in northern Arizona/southern Utah. Over two million people a year visit Lake Powell as a vacation spot, and Rainbow Bridge on the Utah side of Lake Powell is one of the world's largest and highest natural bridges. The loss of tourism dollars alone is a good enough reason to not drain Lake Powell.
