  • She's dead now

The past is in the past... We can't travel back in time to re create the past even if we did go back and spoke our opinion what do you think would happen. Well we would be guillotined for sure. So that is a waste. So no I do not think Marie Antoinette should be held responsible.

  • Yes: The leaders of a nation sould be aware of the plight of the citizens.

The aristocracy of France turned a blind eye toward the suffering of the common man believing that the status quo was maintainable, but when the status quo leaves so many in suffering it is sometimes necessary for the citizenry to shift the power back to the hands of those who are the society. Unfortunately such corrective action is often achieved through violence.

  • Marie Antoinette should have been held responsible, but not through death

Marie Antoinette should be held responsible for her ignorance of the French people's plight before and during the French Revolution, but she should not have been held responsible through execution. There could have been a better way to hold her responsible. Her death was an excuse by bloodthirsty guillotine wielders of her day to take out their frustrations.

  • Marie Antoinette Died by Guillotine

Marie Antoinette suffered mightily for her sins when she was executed by guillotine on Oct. 16, 1793. Her ignorance of the plight of the French people was unparalleled. She deserved to die for not doing more as the queen. She was held responsible for the misery of France, even if the charges brought against her were a bit false.

  • Marie Antoinette is responsibility free

She got married to the French dauphin when already there had been a dark thunderous cloud on France caused by Louis XVI' s predecessors and also she resented some of the kings decisions such as assistance in the American war of independence. She is not to be blamed on this largely

  • No one is ever good nor bad, it is never that simple.

Marie-Antoinette like many had no choice in the matter of becoming Queen of France. You cannot say she was a terrible person or that she was a scrupulous person. It is such a large grey scale history is moulded of. No one deserves to die for something they had little control over. Yes she could have helped her people more and do her duty but as a foreigner she had very little power compared to the King. If anyone should be to blame it would be the King, as the 2nd estate basically destroyed France's social class system with their hunger for money and power and Louis XVI did nothing but cower in the face of decision-making. So no Marie-Antoinette should no be held responsible because as a woman it was easier for France's people and history to label her an ignorant woman than to question the man in power. The King.

  • To late now

I do not think we need to worry about whether or not she was ignorant of the French people's plight back during the French Revolution. That was a long time ago, and now we need to worry about problems that are going on in the present. So no she should not be held responsible.

  • An over drawn point

This is a centuries old point that is largely over drawn today. Marie Antoinette was ignorant, of course, but history has sought to portray her as more ignorant due to implicit misogynist assumptions, and many of the quotes or actions attributed to her expressing these points are compiled from other sources.
