Marijuana laws be should relaxed because when it comes down to it the war on drugs like this is nothing but a big fat failure. It should be treated just like alcohol. Sold over the counter with minimal regulation. Then, simply tax it and make some real money off it.
Marijuana laws should be relaxed so that non-violent offenders are not longer arrested, prosecuted and sent to prison. Prosecuting and incarcerating non-violent drug offenders is expensive and a drain on resources. Many times these offenders become hardened criminals after being released from prison. Our government is actually creating more dangerous prisoners with our stupid drug laws.
Marijuana needs to just be legalized, both recreationally and medicinally. There is growing evidence that it is helpful in the medical field and not nearly as bad recreationally as we have been taught over the years. On top of this, the tax revenue from the sale of legal marijuana would be enormous, and the safety of the product would be enhanced.
Think about it: Do you want your bus driver, doctor, pilot, cop, surgeon high on marijuana? , , , ,, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,, , , , , , , , , , , , , ,
Marijuana doesn't do anything productive. There are very high rates of people that drive while they are high. People who drive while they are on marijuana are hard to catch because there's not a test for it like there is for driving while drunk. It's more safe for society in marijuana stays illegal.
